: Upgrading from Corporate Response template to newer template
: thassoc January 17, 2018, 05:57:56 PM
Hi!  I've been very pleased with Corporate Response template on our site.  Your newer templates, such as Big Business, seem to have many new features and extensions.  What's the process for moving from an older template to a newer one?  Any support article on how to do this?

Thanks,
Todd Herman

Hello,

All your content stays within Joomla, the template only stylizes the site. So you would install the template and assign it as the default one. Keep in mind that every template will have different positions, so you would then have to move your modules around to new positions on the new template.

Mike - hi!  Thanks for your reply.

Some followup questions:
1 - Corporate Response has settings for Layout, Styling, and the like.  Would these carryover to a new Shape5 template, or would I need to apply these settings to the new template?
2 - Big Business seemed to me to be best geared to larger sites like mine (www.toddherman.com - over 300 pages).  Is this the template you'd recommend for a larger site, or perhaps another one instead?
3 - Big Business (and other templates) supports comments for Disqus, Facebook, Twitter, and Google.  Is LinkedIn a supported option?  If not, how can it be added?
4 - I'd like to get out of having to post a link to every article on a landing page, and instead rely upon a page to display all articles assigned to a specific category.  My understanding is the "S5 News Display v2" will do just that.  Is my understanding correct?

Thanks!

Best,
Todd Herman

Hello,

1. Those settings are unique to a template, you would have to copy them over. They both use the same admin though, so it should be pretty straightforward to copy the settings.

2. Big Business is a comparable design to Corproate Response, so it would be a nice upgrade. All of our templates will handle a larger site though, they are all built on th same framework and function mostly the same way.

3. If you mean the icons, those are controlled through Ion Icons. We can assist you with that once signed up in the Big Business forum board.

4. News Display would do that, so would Masonry and Image and Content Fader. Or you can simply have a default Joomla blog page, which lists all the articles in a category.
