Well if wanted to change the width to 975 you'd also have to change the height or yes it will stretch the movie out. So if you add 100 pixels to the width you'd have to also add this to the height. You could try playing with the aspect ratio and see if this helps. If increase the width try an aspect ratio of 4:3 and this might help the stretching.
