: e-commerce template compatability

Hello there,

After much reading and consideration it looks like I have decided Joomla is the best way forward for a site I have been asked to develop.

However, I've got a few newbie questions to ask if you all humour me! The sportopolis template is spot on for the sites requirements but in order to make sure I buy the right template I was hoping for some feedback on the below:

1) How do I check that a template is compatible with a shopping cart solution suvh as Virtuemart?

2) Has anyone got any experience of creating a shopping cart/e-commerce function with a 'non e-commerce' template (if there is such a thing) - what were the issues?

3) If there is such a thing as a non e-commerce template, would I have to use two templates in the one site? Can this be done and is it possible.

I know the questions might sound like they are more technical than pre-sales, but the answers might affect what I purchase so thought this was the best place for the post.

Appreciate any response.

Cheers,
MatFlat.

Hello,

I thin I can answer all of your questions in one combined paragraph. We do have a few templates that are built as e-commerce templates but really any template can be used an e-commerce template. Virtuemart is a component that can be installed directly into Joomla site, despite what type of template it is using. The e-commerce templates we have are simply designed around Virtuemart and we stylized a few of the Virtuemart modules and component features to match the template better.
