: Performance in IE7 and IE8

Hi guys,

First off, great template and great club with great support.

Now, when i run the siteshaper in Opera or FF everything is fine, although the frontpage could be a little bit more responsive. The same goes while just browsing Emma on your demo server.

But when i view the demo or the siteshaper on a local install on ie7 or ie8 performance is really not good. As is reported in another thread the menu dropdown stops functioning, but also the drop down panel goes really slow as does the news image transitions. When you browse to another page however, the menu works again and performance is good. So i think the dropdown module and the newsimage module are giving some performance problems in ie7/8.

When i just install the template on a current site of mine, everything is okidoki, but then again that is without using the dropdown and/or the newsimage module.

So all in all, my experience is that this awesome template isn't performing smooth on ie7/ie8 as can be observed on the demo server as well. My question is, could you please look into this.

On a sidenote, i'm all for an internet without ie, but well i dont see that happening any time soon :D

Hello, I am looking at our demo in IE7 and IE8 and do not see any performance issues. I would suggest trying this on a second machine.

If you are referring to the image news module being slow you can try using the fade only feature on the module, instead of fade and slide.

Thanks for your fast reply.

I have here 3 pc's with ie7/8, ff and opera. I experience this ie behavior on all three pc's. But if you don't see it, well then there is not much i can ask from you. All pc's are on vista btw.

Maybe some other members can respond and say i am crazy or that they experience the same on the demo server with ie:)

Just to absolutely sure i will look at things at my side and try to figure out what causes this behavior for me.

I'm having the same problem. I've done a quick screen capture comparing how my site www.climaxracingproducts.com (http://www.climaxracingproducts.com) loads in IE8 compared to Firefox.

In Firefox the slideshow happens fairly smoothly and the drop down menus work fine. In IE8 the slideshow works terribly and the drop down menus don't work at all.

Please let me know how to get the slideshow and drop downs working in IE8. Thanks.

By the way, I'll delete this video. I just put it up so you could see what was happening.

Hello, I checked your site from here and it loaded with normal speeds in IE. I see you've turned on the fade only for the image news, I was going to recommend that as it has less javascript to call.

Any idea why it doesn't work on my computer as you could visually see, as well as why we're getting complaints from customers with the same problem?

Also, any idea why the submenus don't work at all in IE? This is a serious problem I'd really appreciate help with.

Thanks.

Hello, I am not sure why it's not loading on your machine, I've tested it on a second machine here and it loaded with no issues, including the sub menus. You can also turn on the standard suckerfish menu for the drop downs which uses no javascript.

Changing to the standard suckerfish made an immediate change. The drop downs now work fine in IE. The slideshow is still a mess.
