: Is it possible to use Sea of Glass as an intro page?
: antic October 05, 2009, 11:34:30 AM
Hi, could you please tell me if it is possible to use SOG as an intro page? For example, I want the main menu to be hidden and I would like to put the extension Front page display ver.2 in one of the module position. That's all I want to be displayed on the front page. This is an example: www.car.rs

Thank you in advance!
Aleksandar

Hello,

Yes you can do this with Joomla.  The best way is to just copy the template and rename it.  You'll have to do so in the XML file, throughout the index.php file and also then create a new folder that is labeled with your new name under the templates folder.  You then can delete the main body output area in this copy and just assign it to the homepage.

Regards,

Thanks for your reply but I still need some clarification.
1. Should I copy the template SOG within the template manager and then rename it?
2. Could you be more precize about xml file and index.php? What changes should I make within these two files?
3. Should I create a folder with the same name as the copied template?
4. What does it mean "Delete the main body output area?
Thank you in advance!

1.  No you will need to copy if via FTP.
2.  the templateDetails.xml file and the index.php file all of "seaofglass" text in them.  So what you'll need to do is a find and replace for this and change it to "seaofglass2" or something.
3.  Correct, for the above example in step 2 you would need to name the folder "seaofglass2"
4. You would need to most likely delete in whatever template you assign to the homepage:

      <jdoc:include type="message" />
      <jdoc:include type="component" />
