I dream about a Bliss SMF wrapped template.  ;D

I would love a fresh clean light directory style template, using mosets tree :)

: online news template needed
: pix_perfect January 09, 2008, 02:09:09 AM
I would like to see a news paper style template. I should be easy to read. Many categories such World, Politics, Travel should be accessible from front page. Most important front page should be easily customizable. Clicking on any article gives full text as well as teasers to other articles in same category. Clicking on category on front page shows selection of articles with teasers. Articles should flow from most prominent position on front page to less prominent position and finally to the archive automatically according to some time parameter. Nice would be some sort of versioning and approval process so that several authors can work together on one story. This is sorely missing in the Joomla realm.
Ample space should be devoted to possible ad space on front page and article pages.

For reference check out: www.nyt.com, also: http://www.joomlart.com/templates_demo.php?template=ja_fagus nice work on the front end but needs more features on the back end.

I would like to see a template developed for artists, arts groups, galleries, tours etc that has Lytebox in it, user-generated color combos, accordion menus and not so much focus on written content. Like a combination of Kite Photography, Creative Edge and User Choice.  ;D

I am an artist who creates website portfolios for other artists and arts groups, and find that most of the templates available are geared toward written content, not images. And I am fairly new to Joomla but Love it so far! I think Shape5 has the best variety of templates on the web. Thanks!

: mikek January 25, 2008, 06:13:10 PM
Hi, do you have any examples of your portfolio work so we can get a better feel? We do agree that a lot of Joomla templates are content focused only; and we hope to change some of that.

: Re: Have a template idea?
: vetstudentjenn March 13, 2008, 01:00:58 PM
Not sure how popular such a thing would be, but you asked!  ;D

I am working on putting together a veterinary medicine client education website. It will have both "articles" on common diseases and conditions, and a forum for people to share their animal stories and ask specific questions about the disease that their pet is suffering from.

I would like for it to have a "header" with merged pictures of examples of the different "veterinary" species of animals... dogs, cats, fuzzy pocket pets (hamster, chinchilla, white mouse, rabbit), horses, cows, birds, reptiles.

I have found only one template in several days' dedicated search, and it had a very weird transparent design for the content- it was VERY difficult to read over the nearly full-colored animals splashed around. There are templates for "safari" type interests, but, I don't think that a dog owner is going to take a second look past a lion...

Of course, it would have the capabilities that I have read mentioned on this site for the template to have a user-defined color scheme. That is the coolest feature I have seen in web design software. (Serif WebPlus has this, and it is getting me through until I can figure out Joomla! This software has a pretty steep learning curve for a fuzzy medical science- type like me!  ;) ).

Thanks for listening!
Jenn

Anyhow, I joined *just* to answer this question. I am waiting with bated breath for the "tell a friend" extension to be released in its 1.5-stable version.

There is definitely a demand for this...

There are NO hot real estate templates.  Need something that'll blow away realtor . com, fsbo . com, buyowner . com, owners . com, byowner . com and forsalebyowner . com.

One of the other clubs I belong to released one a couple months ago but it's just so so.

: Re: Have a template idea?
: awev August 05, 2008, 07:02:41 PM
Not so much as for a template, yet something to be included on all future templates - a way to change the font size, and variable widths. So something like A+|A|A- and |<>| | | >||< , where A+ and |<>| would be enlarge/expand, A and | | would be restore default settings, while A- and >||< would reduce/shrink the text and screen width respectively.

The ability to adjust the text size is mainly for those with sight problems, or restricted screen real estate that wants to zoom in on an area.  The screen size would be nice as not everyone has the same size monitors. I think the smallest monitor resolution in use now days is 800x600, a common size is 1024x800, and some people (like me) use 1600x1200 (or 1200x1600) or larger. So, being able to adjust between 800x600, 1024x800, and 1280x1024 would be nice.

Just throwing in my two cents worth, before taxes, inflation, and other fees to be named. If you don't like it I do offer a refund, yet I charge a $10 processing fee along with a 15% restocking fee. ;)

Some other template clubs have released hotel/travel templates, but to be honest, these are really bad.
I hope you will give this a go. I know that there are many people interested in a template for a hotel or travel site.
Best regards and thanks for the wonderful templates!

I am in the midst of starting up and international sourcing and trade company. It would be great (mostly for self-serving reasons) to have a template that was set up for international business. Customers could log in and view their project reports (ex. factory audit reports, quotations, product development information, prototype pictures, etc..). All this information is extremely confidential and therefore must only be available to that particular customer.

Such a template could be used for a very wide range of businesses; not just sourcing!

I would like to see a fashion site that encompasses these genuine designer products :-
T-Shirts, sunglasses, watches, skiing goggles, trousers, fragrances, jewellery. all aimed at the 16-30 year old group.
I feel that a Joomla/Virtuemart combination would be ideal.
Joomla for fashion news/articles and VM for the shop/sales area.

Hey guys....

I would love to be able to integrate music on my website.  I am looking for music that continues to play in the background as people browse my site.  Most of the Joomla music solutions offered are linked to a particular menu item and stop as you click through the site.  Other options open a totally different browser window and don't offer a nice integrated feel.  Any possibility of releasing an integrate music and the controls into a template?

I think there is a huge demand for a good real estate templates. My husband is a realtor, andI am currently making a website for him, and a few of the people he works with, have already asked me to make websites for them. Real Estate marketing is vearing away from the traditional print advertising, and most realotrs I know are focusing their advertising efforts on the internet. It would be nice if there were a template  that provided an easy listing management tool, a tool for virtual tours, a way to search listings based on certain criteria (e.g. property type, size etc....) Also, videos would be nice; property mapping, such as google maps, would be great; a way to showcase open houses... Also, it should be very user friendly, since most of the realtors I know do not have much time to focus on learning new technologies. I think it would be great if you guys could come up with something like this. :D

I would like a template that would be suitable for a college or university. It will actually be a fictitious university, containing sample data, fake registered users, etc. But, I will use it as a playground/sandbox for integrating and showcasing all of Joomla's capabilities (calendar, event RSVP, photo gallery, video player, forum, payment processing, etc.). Basically, it will be a way for my clients to see how a Joomla extension could be used in a real-world environment.

: Re: Have a template idea?
: Michael Rumpf May 31, 2009, 11:15:57 AM
A biz / neutral looking Video (multimedia) site for the purpose of learning by video instructions (and less text). It should intuitively let you navigate through topics and subtopics, give a prpoposal in some visual way of hot respectively new videos and should allow the provider to propose videos from a related topic (that seems IMHO difficult in Joomla to implement) for example in a video rotator/slider.
It should be both for free use and for memberships (maybe different degrees), it would be of advantage that user could tag videos and make notes, a later add-on of wiki technology would be top!
Features like video uploading or many video formats are not necessary, as all videos supposed to be FLV in HD quality from the provider (schools, continuous education etc). It should definiely NOT remind of Youtube or community style video sharing portals, but be focussed of video content.
I hope this makes sense to you. Regards, Michael  :)
PS: I read about the new Mediaplate template and am confused about the "allows you to add up to 30 video clips/movies." Doesn't that depend solely on the server space?? That would be far to few for above requirement, I imagine a volume of about 500 or 1000 videos, at least  :D

I am looking for a template that would match the layout of http://www.cargill.com

It would have an attractive and enticing front page to draw prospective customers to look further into the site and also be clean for current customers to find what they usually want to look at.

Integrations: It would be nice to integrate the DTN markets into the site. Many visitors will be looking for this information and it will be one of the main reasons they visit the site and bookmark it.

Template Colors: Desired color for this template would be a nice brown.

Hi,

From the work that we have done I have suggestions for possible templates:

sites for community groups like churches, residents associations, youth groups that have changing committees and different people that keep the content up to date

A real estate/holiday rental site

A fundraising site for people raising money for different causes or doing a particular event

Templates with a family/child feel, poss for schools

and for me the most important one!  a classified site where people can review different businesses and services and search for businesses in a particular area.

I love your templates and think they are great!

Thanks

I quite like the template Bridge Of Hope you've created. My only problem is that it is targeted for Africa! I'm currently working on a web project to raise funds to help the poorest children in India go to school. I first thought I'd use the Bridge Of Hope template and customize it for India, but that is proving quite a difficult task!  :P

It would really be fantastic :o if you guys could come up with a template like BoH, but for India instead of Africa.

: Author - Actor - Artist - or Creative Type Template
: raclark April 29, 2010, 08:59:29 PM
My idea for a new template is for an Author/Actor/Artist or other creative type template.  A place to list books / movies / art, etc.  It would have to be multi-media friendly and very eye-catching (just like the other Shape 5 templates  :)).  Something that is color customizable but clean and efficient.  A nice layout to emphasize creative works.

Examples could be pulled from famous author/actor, etc. official websites.

Thanks for listening!

i am really happy to join Shape5, thank you for the work you do. Probably, one template idea would work as well- a template for family genealogical tree, where families could place information about their ancestors with all the data included. i live in Russia and it is highly popular here to make investigations on the root of our families up to centuries but there is no appropriate shape to place it in. Thank you.

I really like your work here.  I just recently joined and got my first site shaper to install correctly to my server.  I would really appreciate if you would consider creating  a school template.  There are many charter schools opening in the US and the trend in the United States is for an expansion of charter schools.  With the diversity in the US, I am interested in a site similar to the "Bridge of Hope"  That is such an excellent template.  I would like to see a S5 rotator with images that show diversity in the US (all races).  I like the way the pictures on Bridge have been touched up to look "painted"  Is it possible to do that with a cultural diverse mix of high-school students?

Could you use the same "Bridge Template" and just create an additional theme?  ;D

Media blog templates. I have a bunch of sites that place daily new videos, huge high quality photo galleries and home-made content that needs to be featured for a longer period of time.

It is also VERY important to exchange traffic with other media blogs, which can be achieved by making something like "related post" below the photo galleries for example, with thumbnails, but all thumbnails directly link out to partners. Even the possibility to directly link out normal articles or featured articles would make a huge difference for me in choosing a template. I share this thought with many other media blog owners.

Extended profiles, PM's, member "ranks", favorites, user upload function. All very important for a high-end media blog. I would love to see one made for Joomla, as I am now forced to use other CMS because of the sheer lack of decent joomla templates for my blogs.

I would be happy to buy one of those, or use it for free and promote shape5 by linking to them from a hotspot on the site. It will be shown to about 10.000 daily visitors.

Some great ideas on this topic.  Food for thought!  I'd be weary that others don't start utilising them Shape5!

My idea is for a cartoony template.  I see so many cool cartoony type templates which I'm sure have a really low load time (vectory).

I'd also like to see you take advantage of CSS3 more such as http://speckyboy.com/2010/02/15/20-css3-tutorials-and-techiques-for-creating-buttons/  This way you can reduce the use of images in a few places (such as the menu).

Joomla! 1.6 makes multilingual support native.   Bur, for now it is not an intuitive system, and existing Shape 5 templates are reacting to rather than integrating this new system.  It would be good for us and for you guys to spend some time looking at the issues that are presented by this new integration in Joomla! 1.6.  Have a look for example at this post regarding implementing of a multilingual site using Sea of Glass:  http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?uid=568708&f=617&t=586841&start=0&sid=44a8d22fd38d12a27ad7a79d2e59b648 (http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?uid=568708&f=617&t=586841&start=0&sid=44a8d22fd38d12a27ad7a79d2e59b648)  There are a lot of posts like mine.  The native integration is not intuitive, and it would be great if there were a site shaper to allow people that have a need an off the shelf solution and don?t have time to experiment.  And, according to the Translation team:

You messed up your template headers or the original template has wrong code in its index.php
twice <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" with one containing wrong value.

wrong
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
should be:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="<?php echo $this->language; ?>" lang="<?php echo $this->language; ?>" dir="<?php echo $this->direction; ?>" >

I suggest you look at the way the index.php is made in beez20"

I have found another incompatibility issue regarding the registration module, in my case the horizontal module used with Sea of Glass.
The way to deliver multilingual content is to create multiple instances of the template, and modules.  I can for example localize the reservation module to each language and assign it to a language according to some rather strict and unforgivable rules.  On the other hand, I tried to create multiple instances of the registration module and localize them for three languages.  When I publish multiple registration modules on the site, I get a 310 loop error.  Presumably because I have three dancing cookies each trying to overwrite the other.  I have no problem hard coding a registration module for each language, but as of now I have no way to offer a multi-lingual registation.  For today, I have left the registration module published only in Portuguese on the site to demonstrate what can be done to localize for 1 language without hard coding the module.  Joomfish doesn?t yet support 1.6, and their product is going to be quite different from the native support.  You guys have done a great job of addressing mobile phone compatibility.  Multilingual support should be a standard feature of any 1.6 compliant template, so I suggest that no time would be better than the present to address the issue of multilingual support in 1.6 by releasing revised registration module and featured template. My friend and I started an internet radio station called Freedomizer Radio via Blog Talk Radio about a year and half ago.  It would be great if we had a template for a radio station that would highlight Guests, Shows, Hosts, Interviews, Podcasts, News, Multiple banner placements for advertisers, forms to upload guest info and news articles, to name a few.  I have plenty more ideas trust me. I purchased a membership about 6 months ago to upgrade the current site but its difficult to find a template that would work best. The current site is www.freedomizerradio.com if you would like to take a look.  Let me know what you think of the idea and please contact me if you would like to work together to create something.

Thanks,

Sean

I would love to see a nice fitness/personal training template.
this industry is huge and I bet you there will be lots of people joining if you would come up with something nice!!

Be great if you can incorporate some sort of blog style and of course room for testimonials.

I have been looking all around for a joomla template that would be suited for a sports organization. My daughter is a volleyball player.
The town and area we live in has many great volleyball teams -school teams/ club teams/ college team /university team/ beach volleyball /etc.Currently they all seem to work in isolation and none have a good way to collaborate and share information.
I have taken it upon myself to register a name/ get a host and use a shape5 template.
The template i would suggest is an information type site. Main page would have calendar, news blog, latest scores /pictures etc.
Each team would have there own page with specific news / info about them. this page would be updated by the coach.
there would be other information pages for facilities, equipment suppliers, training camps, etc.
I am going to attempt to use the new vertex template (while teaching myself joomla at the same time!!!) but it would have been nice to find an organization template that would have all the latest features and meet the needs of groups.

for your consideration

How about a Spa Club template?  The spa club I work with uses the software at salonspaware.com.   If you could do a template that can book reservations, email notifications, client login for personal stuff, appointment setting, etc. That would be awesome!

Hmn, a nice brand new template for a shop would be great.
With VM all polished, with product details tabs, a nice cart design etc...
I think people will like it

I think Christmas templates are pointless.  It would be more worthwhile to develop a template and then develop a Christmas version of the template.  Then you can set the date that the Template is in force if you use Joomla 1.6

Do you have a website in the works that you need a template for?  Are you looking for a template with a specific look or style? Feel free to give us some template suggestions or even any template integration wishes you may have. :)
I'm needing a website for models, where visitors can go to vote for their favorite model. Something similar to the following template:

Im starting up a membersite for a good cause to bring people with a heartdisease and their relatives together. The site is there for them to talk about whats hard in life and engage them to help others in the same position. I would love to see a template for non-profit use. Or something like a club/union template.

This is, like someone allready was talking about, a site to write own news about diseases and other news about organdonations and researches and more in that category, with a forum, and a function to send in their own story to share with others. It should come in red style, that would be great when its about the heart  ;D

Thanks for great work...

Ha ha ha you've just asked them to make your whole site for you!  Try Kunena that's a good forum, many of the templates on this site have Kunena themes that come with them.  There is already a charity/non-profit type template on this site too.  I think it's called Bridge of Hope or something.

I tried to type this in earlier, but it didn't work for some reason, I think perhaps because I changed the title.

Plumber / Electrician / Heating Engineer / Builder that sort of a template

also

Model / Band / Celebrity etc

No, I simple tried to explain what the site?s about to give a bigger picture, the functions I was talking about is allready out there and can be downloaded. It doesn?t need to be a non-profit theme, a simple club or lets say a health theme would work just fine...

And the rolls on the middle of the page and bottom,

The left side is nice as well,

I liked how everything was organized and they were all in the nice shape,

Hi there

I am looking to build a site that looks like socialcompare.com and you already have a sight that looks almost like it, which is joomanager.com. Do you a have template that can create a site like social compare. The closest theme looks to be Callie Rush.
It would be great if you could adapt this theme and release it looking like social compare, by combining it with the features especially menu style of Joomanager.com, with a few enhancements taken from socialcompare.com.

Please let me know if you might consider doing this.

Something like that but for Joomla.

I really like shape5 templates and whilst I am fine with all the back-end Joomla, HTML and CSS customisations, I am relatively low-level skilled in hard-code changes, so i think a template (to be described) could help myself and other Driving Instructors or Van Renters, Cleaners and generaly services which are used by the hour...

The first thing to catch the eye to be a search box, like booking dot com

1) A calendar function (option in backend for single date selection or date range selection) plus an ASAP box which you can tick instead - linked in the backend to availability.

2) Postcode / Area select function.  Articles would have co-ordinates linked in to them to satisfy this process. (Geo Places wordpress theme has a function worth noting).

On the results page:

Results would be returned (as articles, displaying similarly to the results page of booking dot com) listed in order of a combined relevance, with an hour-by-hour availability module (works likes streetcar.co.uk or planyo.com calendar) under the article, which you can click and book now
-----------------------------------------

Backend users would:

> select their availability day-by-day (which automatically adds an article for that day)
>and then further, select their availability in hour-by-hour blocks of that day (which updates the module for that day).

When they select each day it would duplicate their "default article" and publish it, having (automatically) changed the article title to include the date (of selected availability).

When the backend users update their hour-by-hour slots for each day, this will update the module for the relevant day.

To summarise: Search by combination of proximity to your postcode (or area) & a date (or dates) ....  Results displayed ...  book online.  The rest of site could be like any of the latest Shape 5 templates because they are very good and modern looking.

I believe there would be a demand for this from other Driving Instructors, Chauffeurs, (Hotels??), Car Clubs, Meeting Rooms etc...

Thanks for considering

Would love to see a CAR DEALERSHIP template.  Something where we can showcase current stock and what's on it's way in.  Would need to be able to display multiple images for each car, and also room for all the specs.

Maybe a form for booking in a test drive or ordering a brochure?

I think a clean, simple, easy-to-navigate page for non-profits would be in high demand.  You have the African one ("compassion?"), but its too specific for most non-profits.

Template for a genealogy personal site -- expect to be large over time. Does not need to display GEDCOM files although that would be nice but not the core need.

On a genealogy site one looks for ability to display pictures or images for more than just one surname. Joomla would serve well to be able to lock surname information down to a group. A must is a caption display for the image. Zoom on images within a gallery would be very good as often a viewer wants to see details of a picture.

Would love to have footnote or endnote display built in as it is important in genealogy to show your source of information.

Vintage, historical, antique colors are often chosen for these sites.  Desire the ability to have a different color theme for different parts of the site (surname1, surname2, reference, blog, etc. as well as the "home" site).

I have searched and searched for a 2.5 template that would require less work on *my* part so I could spend the time on the actual posting of genealogy information. Hard to come by.

Oh -- and no huge pictures at the top. Would rather see an image that could be right or left with a latest information or a rotating set of information in that area. Large pictures are used and desired but not on the top of the home page.

I don't have a specific idea but I would like to see a couple more ecommerce sites connectd to VirtueMart.  Maybe one for quick pick up items like pizza or a beverage barn.  Another that would be just general merchandise.  You do great work.  Thanks.

Dear template designers @ Shape 5,

my name is Lars from Germany, and i am a new member of your club. I am working with joomla for years, still remembering mambo and the beginnings. And yes, i worked with these rocket stuff and quite other template clubs, but i am still stunned having a look at your great "rounded" design elements and the smoothness of the moving components. Actually, i wondered why i did not met you before, because this is quite the best i saw until now. And i think, i have a small right to say this, i was responible for the built of hundreds of websites, including germanys top media site bild.de with over 1 billion clicks a month (10 years ago - and not with joomla :-))

I have a good friend, an author of roman books and he needs a wonderful designed book shop for physical books and ebooks to sell. It is more private, but he is even a very good S-F author ( Perry Rhodan ) and he is writing texts for my personal german S-F fun site www.mouth.li too.

Because his roman books do not have a "modern" content, he would like to have something more roman monumental - and i have to quit. I am not a good design maker - just an enthusiast user of it.  But having a good bookstore is quite something, no one did so far in the joomla clubs. Or i may just do not know.

Is it old fashioned to have a book store ? I think not. I think in these times, there is even a big future for it besides Amazon. And actually, Amazon does not have any design. Just articles :-)

Now you guys may have some space to think about it ?

Greetings from the north of Germany - Lars Kohlsaat (alias General Smitt :-))

I LOVE your compassion template from Nov 2011. Is it possible to do something like that again, more out of the box looking, with a responsive site? This would be amazing. I would definitely renew my membership. Looking for more creative than Blogazine or Newsplace (sorry). Let me know. Thanks!

A template that is simple but looks very professional at the same time could be really great. I've seen a lot of professional looking templates and majority of them are related to travel, restaurants, and housing. It would be awesome to see a template related to sports that doesn't look very complicated.

I have yet to find any creative restaurant templates that have a customized background image and a unique slideshow module. I have clients that really my creative spin and all the restaurant options just have blank solid color or texture backgrounds which do not allow for the restaurants personality to be added.
