I can change them to 777 or 775 but when I go back and check they've been reset to 555 and everything else in the directory is 644! Although if you aren't changing any settings in the template parameters area then don't worry about it cause this would be the only reason you'd need to have them writable.

Specifically when I access the template parameters before I can implement ANY changes to it, it makes the param.ini unwritable. This has been verified by my host provider after being on the phone with them last night for 1.5 hours. As I and still building the site and often have to go in and assign menus to the template this is a pain in the butt! : Re: param.ini questions : jonahh November 16, 2009, 01:40:09 PM If you right click on your params.ini file via an FTP client you can change the permissions to CHMOD 777.

Here's the deal. As I build the site and want to add menu items to this template, I first have to ftp into the site and make the param.ini 777 THEN make my changes and should I STILL be in the template manager and want to make another change after JUST MAKING a change, the template is unwritable and I have to do the whole process all over again. : Re: param.ini questions : jonahh November 18, 2009, 02:58:29 AM I'm not really sure what to say then, perhaps try changing the permissions on the template folder itself too? Setting the params.ini to 777 should do it. You could contact your host and see what they say, it could be an FTP user problem too, not having enough permissions to actually change the file to 777. But as Joomla says its not writable so thus it is a permissions problem, Joomla itself can't change the permissions.
