After testing with the Commportal Template for the last week, it's apparent that the Joomla 1.5 version is buggy and doesn't work.
  • I cannot register users which is critical functionality.
  • I cannot manage users either through Joomla's interface or CB's.  When I try to change passwords, it tells me to enter a valid password.  It won't allow any password changes.
  • The CSS for UL and OL needs some clean up.  Text is aligning on top of bullet.
  • When logged into front end as administrator, application errors out and won't let me complete task
I put in a forum post last week about the inability to register users.  I'm not sure what the turnaround time is and I haven't heard back on the status.  Unfortunately, I've got clients waiting and the slow support and buggy template is causing me to look bad.

I love the template, but hate the problems.  This template needs some work and additional testing.  I'm starting to question whether Shape5 is worth the trouble.  I've already tweeked the template to find out it doesn't work and now I have to start over.  NOT HAPPY about that...

Hello guys,

Sorry for the delay, this is still being investigated and I personally will try to come to a resolution tomorrow on this.  In the meantime what you can do is bypass the lightbox style popup and make the register button a link to the internal CB registration page.

In order to do this you will have to look for:

onclick="shiftOpacity3('popup_outer2');show_popup2();"

On about line 106 of the loggedin.php file and replace with:

onclick="window.document.location.href='index.php?option=com_comprofiler'"

As for the other problems my responses are below:

# I cannot register users which is critical functionality.
Looking into this.

# I cannot manage users either through Joomla's interface or CB's.  When I try to change passwords, it tells me to enter a valid password.  It won't allow any password changes.
I'm not sure what this problem could be, I've just tested with a new 1.5 Site Shaper install and it works fine.  We haven't made any edits to Joomla or CB they are default installs, possibly its a permission problem on your server?

# The CSS for UL and OL needs some clean up.  Text is aligning on top of bullet.
I'm not sure what you mean here, if you can give an example I'll be able to look into it.

# When logged into front end as administrator, application errors out and won't let me complete task
I'm not sure what you mean here either, if you are referring to navigating through Joomla admin itself, it could be a corrupt install possibly as this error along with the password problem above.

Hi Jonah:

Thanks for the reply:

The password issue is kind of weird and maybe I'm not understanding.  When I type a password like "12Pass34" the application won't allow it for some reason.  When I try putting a password in that starts with a letter, it works.

I actually had the same problem on another site so now I know it's not Shape5's issue...

When you use the unordered list typography, like _star or _arrow, the text for the list items is aligned on top of the bullet in IE 7 and FireFox...  I keep having to add some space on the front end to make my content look right.  The system notifications boxes also have this alignment issue.  Hope that helps..

I was working on an article on the front end and when I went to save it, IE 7 threw an error "Cannot find page" and locked the interface.  I closed IE 7 and opened my site again.  When I logged back in as admin to the front end that same error popped up and wouldn't let me into the site.  I had to go to the backend and login and edit the article there.  After that, I could access the front end again.  But when I edited the article and tried to save again, it repeated the lock out behavior....??

Hello,

The CB Register module has been updated and fixed, please redownload a fresh copy and reinstall and this will fix the problem.

As for the password problem, now that you mention it, I do remember Joomla requiring letters first and not numbers, I think its something to do with security.

For the UL typography problem do you see the same problem at the below URL?  I checked in IE7 and it appears how it should

http://www.shape5.com/demo/commportal/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=27

Could you post a URL to where the UL isn't displaying properly?

For the article error it sounds like a Joomla problem but to determine if its a template, try multiple tests with other templates and if the error goes away let me know and I'll check it out.

Regards,

Jonah:

Thanks  for the reply.  I had to take the template down.  I do not see the typography problem on the link, but when I get the template back up, I will see if it's still a problem.
