Okay, so I've started with a fresh install.  Initially I tried to install this template using the Site Shaper but I couldn't get past installing the sample data step.  I got an xml error and when trying to go beyond that point, I got a configuration error.

So...I installed Joomla using GoDaddy's preinstalled application system.  Then I logged onto Joomla and uploaded just the zip file of this template.  I know I won't have data but I am getting this error Fatal error: Call to a member function getCfg() on a non-object in /home/content/f/a/r/farwestregion/html/2011/templates/new_architect/footer.php on line 23.

Okay I'm getting frustrated.  Will I be able to use Shape5 on GoDaddy's servers?  Can someone please help me get this running?  I don't know what to do!!!!!!!!  (and the hosting was prepaid by the group for 2 years so won't be easy to move!)

I have searched joomla and other sites trying to figure this out.  I have changed permissions on the configuration file for the site shaper to write, then I changed it to a .php file (instead of php-dist file).  I have uninstalled, re-installed several times; all to no avail.  I will do whatever is needed; I love this template but aargh...don't know what to do!!!
Thanks, Star

Hello,

It sounds like you're trying to install a site shaper into a pre-existing Joomla installation or a new installation of Joomla. You cannot do this. Site shapers are complete installations of Joomla with our demo data pre-installed. They must be installed into an empty folder and blank database. Please see the following for a tutorial:

Hello Mike,
I followed the instructions and did this on a blank database/directory as instructed and it still won't work.  So then I installed Joomla and just tried to upload the template but that didn't work either. I'll check the other post to see the other suggestions you have for me.  Thanks so much.  I've tried both ways and to no avail thus far.
