I'm trying to put the site offline. I check the yes and saved. It gives the message that saved the changes successfully, but still online. I return to Global Configuration screen and is as if I had not changed.

Can you help me?

Hello,

That sounds like a permissions problem. Under help in the backend check your system info/directory permissions and verify that all folders are writable.

Hello,

I'd advise looking on joomla.org's forum boards. This function directly relates to Joomla itself, and not the template. There may be more information regarding this there.

Sounds like a file ownership issue that happens in some hosting environments.  Try enabling ftp
