I am trying to install SiteShaper and I get this error:

Some errors occurred while populating the database: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '------------------------------------------------------- -- -- Table structure f' at line 3 SQL=-- -- Dumping data for table `joomla_users` ------------------------------------------------------- -- -- Table structure for table `joomla_user_profiles` -- DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `joomla_user_profiles`

I notice other people had the same issue, I am running "Server version: 5.1.56" of MySql, and I am able to install SiteShapers for any other themes, but not this one.

EDIT:
I decided to proceed with the install anyway, despite that error, and it installed everything perfectly fine. The only thing it seemed to screw up installing was the Menu, it only installed the "Main Menu" in the Menu options, but the menus are still displayed on the homepage. I fixed this by disabling all current menu modules, recreating them, and then adding my own menus to the menu section.

So despite getting that error, if you continue anyway, SiteShaper ends up working fine.

I was getting the same error this morning, so I opened a ticket with my web hosting company I use.  They stated the following:

> There were issues with your sample_data.sql file. There was a syntax error in it.
>
> There was a line:
>
> "-------------------------------------------------------------"
>
> and it should look like
>
> "-- -------------------------------------------------------------"
>
> There is a space missing to set this line as a comment.

Now that didn't make alot of sense, but my site is working now and I didn't get the install error after he changed it.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I got the same error when I installed Life Journey on my localhost.  Like you, switchview, I went ahead anyway and everything seemed to be there, except as you say, only the Main Menu is listed under Menus.   I was able to install Touch of Soul with no error message.

Should not the sample_data.sql file for Life Journey be fixed?  Looks like it's a simple fix according to what you found, med1171.

Another thing I noticed is that when I increased the Session Lifetime and saved the Global Configuration, the Control Pattern items were confined to a column on the left side.   Not that that's a serious problem, just peculiar.

We've found that some MySQL sub-versions show these errors, even though the syntax is quite correct, so it is proving difficult to trace why.

The icon layout in the backed is a Joomla issue, related to how he upgrade method works. Usually, clearing the cache will fix it.
