Hi everyone

I've just started using Joomla and may be missing something incredibly obvious, but I've spent hours trying to work this out and haven't been able to, so here goes...

I have installed corporate response Joomla template which includes S5 Vertical Accordion (www.maryofburgundy.co.uk). I can't work out how to make it the accordion work. I can get a heading come up in a position, but have not idea where I am supposed to enter the content for each of the accordions.

I've tried looking through http://www.shape5.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,75/board,129/ but it isn't helping.

Are there any practical step by step instructions for using this module? I am completely lost.

Hello,

Each slide of the accordion is a module position so you just publish modules to the s5_va_X positions. Once a module is detected the slide automatically shows. Just be sure to that the slide modules are published to the same pages as the main module itself. The titles of each slide can be controlled in the backend of the accordion's settings.

Hi

I've tried working this out and it isn't making any sense to me - maybe because I'm new to this. Are there no instructions with screen shots for this module? That might make sense. At the moment I just think something isn't working.

Also there are no positions with those names in my templateDetails.xml file which I believe is where they should be.

As this module is built into the template I am using I would assume these positions should be built in as well? Is this what is causing the problem?

Hello,

There are instructions at the top of the module:

The S5 Vertical Accordion module allows you to publish up to 10 modules of any kind into accordion. Simply publish this module to any page on your site that you desire. Then publish any module to s5_va_1, s5_va_2, etc. to all pages. The modules published to these positions will become the accordion items. Make sure to specify the accordion titles below.

As long as you're publishing your modules to s5_va_X that is all that's needed. As to whether or not the positions exist in your xml file, that depends on what template you are using. Most of our templates have them included already, but not all. That being said, they do not have to exist in there. You can simply type the position name into the module lookup inputobx rather than using the lookup feature of Joomla.

Hi Mike

I've already gone through all the forum questions and tried to sort out how this is supposed to work. It either isn't working properly or I aren't getting the terminology.

I would really appreciate a series of screen shots to help me work out whether it is me or the implementation - words aren't helping.

I can get a box with the title of the accordion in it, but can't see where to edit it.

Hi Matt

Got it going... I think that a pdf with screenshots for this module to help others would be really good. This process isn't the easiest for those that haven't used Joomla before.

Thanks very much for getting back to me quickly.

Thanks for the Reply Mike, but i have read all of that. My issue is that i have made a new "menu" in the module manager and assigned it to the mod_s5_frontpage_display2.  Then when i create another module and give it the s5_va_1 position it doesn't show anything at all.

Also the module doesn't tell you how to use it. All i see are instructions on what to put in each box (image links) what you want it to do on rollover etc. But nothing on how to get it all setup like we see on your website.  On the demo i see an accordian that has a List menu inside of each item. How do i do that?

Here is a screen shot of what i see on the site with something published to the s5_va_1 or s5_va_2 position:

Hello,

I do not know what you mean by this "assigned it to the mod_s5_frontpage_display2". You don't assign menu items to modules, you assign modules to menu items, and the frontpage display module is unrelated to this module.

All you have to do is publish the vertical accordion to any page that you would like and any position that you would like. Once you do that just publish any modules you want to s5_va_1, s5_va_2, etc. on all pages. Those modules will become the slides inside of the accordion.

Sorry that i wasn't clear. What i meant was that when i go into create a new module i select the S5 Frontpage Display 2 module type. And i tell it be in Left position on the home page for instance. Then i create another custom module and assign it the s5_va_1 or s5_va_2 position. Is this the correct method?  If so its not displaying anything in my S5 Frontpage Display 2 module.

Hopefully thats a little more understandable.

Hello,

I have no idea why you are creating a new frontpage display module though? That is a completely different module and totally unrelated to the vertical accordion module. You should be publishing the vertical accordion module not the frontpage display.

Is that where it should be located?

Sorry to be so difficult...and sorry for the misunderstanding Smiley

Hello,

If it's not listed there then the module is not installed. Please download the vertical accordion module and install it through the extensions manager.
