I'm using the "read more" function on my home page, and when I click on the link, it opens the article with the front page formatting.  I'd prefer that it go a page formatted for news articles.

I have the same issues in my "News and Events" page.  I chose to list the 10 most recent stories with a "newsflash" module published in Top Row 2_1.  If I click on "read more" or the article title, the article shows up in the body of the page, but still under all the newsflash information.  Again, I want a format for articles that doesn't include confusing headers.

The same is true for doing a search.  The results show up in the body of whatever format the page is.  This would be very confusing to a visitor, as it wouldn't look like the page changed since they searched unless they scrolled down a bit.

How do I indicate that I want a different template to show up in instances like this?

Hello,

It is because your articles don't have a menu alias to appear on. Make sure all your articles are linked to a category and that category is linked to a menu item (it doesn't have to be front end visible)

That way all your articles will have a separate alias and can render on their own pages.

This makes sense to me, but I'm not sure how to do it.

I understand making sure that articles are linked to a category.  Simple.  But how do you make sure a category is linked to a menu item?  What would be an example of this?

Hello,

Try the following format:

1) Article > Category

2) Menu Item > Category Blog > Link to Category Name You Created

Now they should all have a menu alias' to display on.
