Hi. Can you please help as I am a bit confused about something?

I have been asked to update a Joomla 1.5 website which uses the Get Reserved template. I started by installing the Siteshaper utility. There were a few problems but i managed to get it installed and working ok. However, the main problem that i have is that I cannot delete menu items in the backend. When i delete a menu item i get the message "Message 1 menu item successfully trashed". However, it is still there on both the front end and backend.

I have tried updating Joomla from 3.1.4 to 3.2.1
I have tried re-downloading and re-installing the Siteshaper from Shape5
I have tried installing the Siteshaper on 2 separate servers.

Nothing solved the problem. The only way i can make it work is if i install Joomla without the Siteshaper.

Of course, my first port of call was the Joomla forum. However, i have not had any response and I can't find anything on Google that relates to this issue.
Since I only have this problem when using the Siteshaper utility i can't help but feel that the download file might be corrupt.

Do you have any ideas about this? I'm a bit stuck because the only other option is to install 2.5 and install the template alone. Not only will this take more time but it means that i cannot update Joomla to v3

You help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Do you have any 3rd party extensions enabled in the back end like a tracking script? Have you tried a different browser?

The Template itself doesn't interact with the Menu System and our site shapers are taken directly from the Joomla website. Make sure you are using the latest version and use the Site Maintenance to clear the Cache of the site as well.

Thanks for the reply.

There are no 3rd party extensions installed. Or at least i haven't installed anything after installing the siteshaper.

Yes i have tried different browsers.

I downloaded the siteshaper from here...
 http://www.shape5.com/component/option,com_docman/Itemid,96/task,cat_view/gid,120/
...so i assume it is the latest version

I have cleared the cache but still no luck. The problem occurs on both mediatemple servers and on localhost.

Do you have any other suggestions?

OK. I have made progress. Firstly the problem only occurs if the the menu item is set to "External URL". Then if i click on the menu item and set it to "Trashed" from the "Edit Menu Item" screen, it gets deleted. Very strange  Undecided

Hello,

If I remember correctly there was a bug with Joomla where you need to edit the item title and hit save before you can delete it. I believe this was fixed in the newer versions but try that as well.
