I've had problems with trying to use a contact form plugin with Corporate response.  It seems to break the side menu and also many other jquery dependent shape5 functions.  At first I didn't realize the issue, but your forum response in another thread pointed me in the right direction.  So now I have this conflict with jquery loading twice, the question is how do I resolve it.  As far as I can tell the form plugins use the standard method for equeuing scripts and are loading the jquery version included in wordpress, while shape5 is loading jquery from it's own folder.

I've tried gravity forms and formiddable forms, and both have the same issue, they break the theme.   I would expect this to be the case for pretty much all form plugins - how are plugins supposed to know not to load jquery if you are loading it from a theme folder they don't know about?  But maybe I've got this figured wrong, jquery/javascript is not my strong suit, so I hope there is an easy answer: How do you recommend that I create a contact form?  Is there any WP form plugin you know of that will work with this theme?

Thanks.

Sorry about the delayed response.  For some reason I've not only been not getting some of the new post notifications, they've also not been showing as unread for me when I browse the forum manually.

The jQuery problem is something I've been trying to solve for a while now.  Unfortunately, the scripts in the framework/themes need to load in a specific order, and I haven't been able to come up with a good way to make that happen without hard-coding the order.  There's a patch that should be ready for release today or tomorrow that might help, and I'll be working on the next patch "phase" soon; the current patch is to bring all Vertex releases to the same version of the framework, and the next one will be to add all the "bonus" features & fixes that I've been wanting to do for a while now.

When I'm able to get to the jQuery troubleshooting part of the next patch, I may need some sites to test my changes on...  would you be interested in allowing me to use your site as one of the testers?

I believe Contact Form 7 will work fine, and S5 Quick Contact should definitely work.

Hello, Im checking in to see if this issue has been addressed yet or not.  I have noticed that there are MANY plugins that cause a conflict with Jquery loading twice.  The only thing they all have in common is the corporate response theme.  I believe the jquery problem is not in the plugins, but the theme itself.

You mentioned that you would be working on patch.  Im just wondering if you have made any progress toward it, and when we can expect a resolution?  It is a great theme and I would love to continue using it, but if it is not compatible with the plugins I also need, I will need to find something else.

Thanks,
Tim

If you would be willing to PM me WP login and FTP information, I may be able to use your site as the basis for the patch.  I've had a couple possible options that I haven't been able to properly test because I haven't really know what plugins to test with.  Having a access to a member's site that is having the issue will majorly accelerate my ability to solve it.

Thanks.  I'll try to start testing on your site today.  I've got another site to test first today, but I'll get to yours immediately after.

So you tested with another poster's site.  Did you come up with a patch?  Because this is a big issue.

There are agreed upon WP conventions for a reason, and the more I use you theme the more I realize how much stuff doesn't work right when you do something as simple as load a second version of jQuery that no plugin knows about.  I've tried all the form plugins you suggested and many more.  The only one that doesn't conflict with your jQuery menus and lazy image load functions is your own s5 quick contact form.  Of course that one can't create the extra fields that I need.   And it's not just form plugins.  Any plugin that actually needs jQuery and follows WP conventions on how to load it is not going to work.  This is going to keep causing headaches for users and plugin authors that get complaints on their forums about a problem that originates in your theme.

This thread on the Wordpress FAQ has a patch that fixes the jQuery loading issue.

All the responsive downloads were updated at the same time the patch was posted to the FAQ; any fresh installations will already have been fixed, so the problem no longer exists.

The patch did solve the problem, but it seemed to cause another one:  The drop down menu at the top of the screen did not load any second level menu items.  So the accordion and lazy loading worked correctly but the flex menu did not.  We reverted to the older version, but I wonder if you could take a look at the issue on our server.

The full Vertex Upgrade Patch is now available and should hopefully solve the problem you are having as it is a complete overhaul of the framework.

I tried to install the full patch on our development site but I must have done something wrong. I did my best to follow the instructions on this page http://www.shape5.com/tutorials/wordpress/Vertex3_Upgrade_Changelog.pdf.   Here is the site, after my attempted upgrade, which is now not loading the theme properly:

http://www.monuart.com/eagleeye/

Could you help me figure out what I did wrong before we try this on the live site?

What would you need to help with this?  FTP credentials?  WP admin access?

Both.  Please PM them to me ASAP so I can figure out what's breaking your site.  I'll take a look as soon as I get to the computer in the morning.

I still haven't received a PM from you with the access details; it's Friday morning.  If I haven't received the information in the next couple hours, I may not be able to look at your site until Monday.
