Do you have widgets placed in the Login and Register sidebar positions?  The buttons are just activators for the S5 Box overlay, they don't actually have login and register forms unless you install a plugin that gives those forms as widgets that you place in the correct positions.

What's "quick start"?

I think the problem may be the temporary fix for the jQuery issue, it looks like the "solution" actually caused some scripts to load out of order, so some required functions aren't available when needed.

I'm still working on the patch today, so hopefully I'll have a solution shortly.  For now, you can just overwrite the vertex folder from your theme with the one from the download, that will put back the original code, and keep watching the Wordpress FAQ for the patch announcement.

If you remove the login, logout, and register text from the "General" tab of the theme options, those buttons will disappear.

I finally managed to figure out the fix for the issue today, I've applied it to your site using the FTP information you PMed me previously, let me know if anything else breaks, but you should be good to go now.

The buttons are just activators for the S5 Box overlay, they don't actually have login and register forms unless you install a plugin that gives those forms as widgets that you place in the correct positions.

Currently, the only widgets you have in those positions are the ones from the Site Shaper that tell you that you can place a login or register form in those positions. To do that, you will need to find a plugin that has (a) login/register form widget(s) and then place the correct widget(s) in the correct position(s).

There will be no issues with jQuery anymore. The demo doesn't use any plugin - it doesn't have a login and register form.

The patch has not been applied to the downloads yet as I am still doing additional testing to make sure there are no other conflicts on other sites.

When there is an official release for the patch it will be applied to the downloads and an entry in the Wordpress FAQ will be made for people who need to apply it to sites that are already active.
