Hello

Bit disappointed with this template to be honest.

You call it No 1 Shopping template but there is no shopping cart functionality provided with it?

There seems to be some VirtueMart files included in the install but the Virtuemart component isn't included.

No surprise really as VirtueMart isn't compatible with Joomla 3.2, so why include any trace of it?

I think you should rename this template as you are misleading your customers by claiming it is a shopping template.

Thanks

Hello,

Due to licensing reasons we aren't allowed to include 3rd party "carts" directly into Templates anymore. The Virtuemart files that you see inside the Template are there to stylize the extensions once you install them to your site.

Keep in mind that a Template isn't there to provide the functionality of a component. The Template is there to help stylize the site and everything around it. You can add any cart system you like such as Virtuemart, RedShop etc and they will all work properly. This allows the end user to choose which extension they prefer and not be forced into using a specific one.

If you have any further questions or concerns please let us know.

There shouldn't be any VirtueMart files outside of what Mike said above, the 3rd party styling.  You can just install Virtuemart in Joomla 2.5 and you will be good to go as the stylings then take affect with it.

Like Mike said, the template itself is ready for a store.  Any extension you desire to use with it.  The clean look is optimal for a store.  The shopping cart button popup allows you to publish any module from any store component there.  And we've included the full width menu drop down to also accommodate  for large store menus and follow the modern style for stores to use full width menu systems.

We would have loved to demo a store live on the template but most components are paid and then of course Virtuemart isn't ready for Joomla 3.0.  We included screenshots on the template specific page to show you what Virtuemart looks like styled up.

Sincerely,

I'm sorry but you could say that any Joomla template is "ready for a store"

Doesn't make it a shopping template

Thanks

You could but thats why this one is more than just any template.  Along with what I've said above we've  also styled the CSS to match the template.  The only thing missing is a live shopping cart demo.  The thing we believe that makes it a shopping template is the above reasons I've listed which is outside what our other templates normally look like.

We truly wish VirteuMart was working for Joomla 3.0 so we could have demo'd the shopping cart running on the Joomla 3.0 version of the template.  We only do Joomla 3.0 for our demos thus the reason why we didn't demo the Joomla 2.5 version running VirtueMart live on the demo.

OK, we'll have to agree to disagree then.

Hello,

What do you mean by demo categories, can you explain this a bit more?

That Joomlart template is Joomla 2.5.  Its the same exact issue we have here.  They can't demo Joomla 3.0 with Virtuemart and they aren't in this demo.

The reasons why we decided not to demo a Joomla 2.5 version of No1 Shopping:

1. Our demos are Joomla 3.0 plus.  We don't demo Joomla 2.5 anymore.

2. We could make an exception and go back to Joomla 2.5 and demo this but we decided against because we believe people would then get confused and complain that its not working in Joomla 3.0.   The demo shows what you get with both Joomla 2.5 and 3.0.  So if you show you get a shopping cart that is functioning (in Joomla 2.5) people will assume the same for Joomla 3.0.  Even if you put up notices, etc it still gets missed.

3.  You can still install Joomla 2.5 version of this template and Virtuemart and get the same result as what we would have shown on a demo (of course minus any dummy demo content that we would have added for the cart).  But all the styling like we advertised in the template features area on the demo is still going to be there for you if you install Virtuemart on Joomla 2.5 so it matches No1 Shopping style.

In summary its sad that Virtuemart isn't ready for Joomla 3.0.  If it was we wouldnt have this issue.  We still released a shopping template because of requests and how people need them for their sites.  The only difference between a shopping template and a non shopping on is demo content and the CSS you style the shopping component with.  Yes we don't have demo content but we did style the component (updated it this month too)  In our 3rd party CSS styling file.

If you need help getting this template up and running with Virtuemart and Joomla 2.5 please let me know I would love to help you.

Sincerely,

The big difference is, when you install the Joomlart template, Virtuemart is installed with it and is already integrated fully into the template.

Your template is "ready" for Virtuemart. Bit like any other template.

The end user has to install and configure Virtuemart after installing the template, which is fine but does not amount to an e-commerce template.

@waynefarnworth - I see what you mean.  I have updated the Joomla 2.5 site shaper and repackaged it to include Virtuemart now.

I also added a new module positions "custom_3" that shows in the cart button area if perhaps one doesn't desire to use the s5box popup cart position.

Cheers!
