I have created a 404 articles and named it 404 Error Page. everything works, but the url does not look good (/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&layout=edit&id=5)

how can I make it look like (404.html)?

thank you

Hello,

That would be based on the alias generated by the article. It also looks like you do not have SEF URLs and URL Rewriting enabled in the Global Configuration of Joomla itself. This is what makes the links look cleaner in Joomla without the index.php portion.

Hello,

I am not quite sure then as our Templates do not interact with URL generation. Have you also ensured to rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess?

Hello,

Have you tried recreating the module? You can also try adjusting the error file directly on the server to see if this helps. Nothing in the Template affect the loading of a module or the default error.php file. If you are using a module you need to make sure the module is named 404 Error Page exactly with a default alias.

If the page isn't loading and your using the latest version of Vertex it means your servers URLs are not redirecting properly. I just tested this on my local installation and it was working without any issues on stock settings.

Hello,

I would try recreating the article using the Tutorial settings. If that doesn't work try repatching your site with the latest version of Vertex. I just tested this on 2 separate sites and it was working using the instructions provided.

again for understanding. The Error Page works, only the url is not displayed nicely:

It`s like this:
www.sitename.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&layout=edit&id=5

but I want that is displayed so:
www.sitename.com/404

Hello,

The URL Generation isn't controlled by the Template. That is controlled by the settings under Joomla > Global Configuration > Search Engine Friendly URLS + URL Rewriting. Also the URLs work off of the htaccess file on the server so that would have to be renamed as well from htaccess.txt to .htaccess.

Hello,

This is a server file provided with Joomla itself and tells your server how to generate links. If you contact your web hosting provider they can help you modify this file to the properties of the server as needed. The Template has no control over this type of issue.
