Hi,
Couple of questions:
1) Is there a template document that I can refer to which shows the module positions for the template?
2) I've created 'Featured Articles' that I wanted to link with a Menu Item. However, when I did this, for some reason the Featured Articles keep appearing below the Appointment Inquiry module - which module is pulling these articles through I can't figure it out.

Thanks

Hello,

1) http://shape5.com/demo/salon_n_spa/index.php/features-mainmenu-47/template-features/90-module-positions

2) The articles will appear in the Component area of the layout page. Any modules published above/below the component will appear respectively above/below the component area.

Not sure I understand the answer to point 2). Are you saying that once I create a Featured Article it will always appear on the Home page below the Appointment Inquiry module? Is there any way of disabling this?

So, I'd like to create 'Hot Offer' that showcases the services/products that are in demand and my idea was to show these under a menu item and not on the Home page. However, if there is no way of preventing them from appearing on the Home page, then where and how can I modify them - e.g. give the Component a title like 'Hot Offer' or 'Current Favourites'...

Thanks

Hello,

1) The Featured Articles will always appear in the Component Area of the module layout. You can disable the Component for any menu item in the Template Manager under the General Tab by selecting that menu item under "Hide Component Area on Pages"

2) You can assign Menu Items to a variety of layouts. Featured Articles is only one of the options available but you could set your Home Page to just a Single Article or No Article at all (see #1). Whatever you assign under the Menu Item - Type is what will appear on the page. The modules visible on the page are based on the Menu Assignments used in the Module Manager.

Hi,
I've looked under the General tab and the nearest thing to disabling that I can see is as per the attached screen shot - but all the items in there are already greyed out, which I assume is that they are already disabled, so if I click on any of them a Green tick appears next to them which would indicate that that particular item has been 'enabled' rather than 'disabled'.

Either way, I've tried it both with the Green tick beside 'Hot Favourites' and without and in both cases the featured articles associated with 'Hot Favourites' still appear on the Home Page.

Hi,
I've now noticed another issue which may be related to the Modules. When I enter the following URL: http://sychadelics.com/ for my site, the page that it brings up is not the home page anymore but the 'Hot Favourites'. Not sure what has happened here.

Update
So if I make the Home page 'Non Featured' page, and then if you navigate to the above URL then you land on the 'Hot Favourites' sub-menu page that is part of the 'Services' menu tab - so I'm guessing here that the Home page has to stay as 'Featured' , otherwise the landing page won't be the Home Page anymore.

The green tick beside a menu item would be to disable the component on that particular page. If you don't want to use the component on your home page for example you would select "Home" and put a tick next to it to remove the articles/component area.

The landing or first page the user sees will always be indicated by a "star" under the Menu Assignments page. You can change the landing page to any page you like and you can have it appear any way you like as well such as Single Article instead of Featured Articles.

Hi,
I think I'm being dense here, but I am still struggling to get rid of the 'Featured Articles' from the Home page. I know you said these are assigned to Components and that I can disable Components from appearing on any page by disabling it within Templates -> General tab, but all to no avail. I can't seem to get rid of it and what is frustrating for me is that I can't easily map the Component that is pulling these Featured Articles through to Home page or the position it is assigned to - I'm not even sure if knowing all this help me at all.

For now all I want is to disable whatever Component that is pulling the Featured Articles onto the Home page. Please help! Smiley

Hello,

There is no other way to disable the component in Joomla. This is not a default feature of Joomla but an option in our Templates that allows for its removal on any menu item. Joomla by default is designed to always show the Center/Component area which is where all articles are designed to appear since they don't use module positions. Component/Center area is always in the middle of the page and modules flow around it 360 degrees. That means if you have a module say in the top_row1_1 it will be above the articles.

This feature has been out a very long time and is working on my copy. If you aren't sure just make sure everything in that drop down list is checked and the articles shouldn't be appearing. Also be sure you aren't confusing a module with an article as that feature wouldn't remove a module.

Hi,
I've managed to disable the Component from appearing on the Home Page and now have my Hot Favourites linked to a Menu Item called Hot Favourites. However, there is now a problem as you can see from the screen shot. The Module placed at the bottom have now almost 'merged' into the ones above - one of which is an HTML and the other is the Appointment Inquiry form - can you let me know how I can create some space in between these (same background colour as the Home Page on the Template).
Thanks
