Hi,

I've updated a site in Joomla 3.4, and installed the last Spotlight.
The Spotlight "read more" button don't work : urls are not correct, and we stay on the same page?

See here : http://www.franckdrapeau.com/joombfd/joom3/index.php/actualites-b

Thanks for help

Hello,

It's not on the same page, you just have the content area turned off under the General tab in Vertex. Joomla always keeps articles in the same layout as their parent page if no other page is specified in a menu item. So what is happening on your page is, the article is trying to load, but you have the component/article area turned off so it doesn't show the article itself. All the parent page modules are still showing because you have specified to turn them off. In order to get rid of the modules you have to create a menu item that points to the same category of your articles, and on that new menu don't publish any modules. Unless you have that category menu item setup, Joomla will always assign the same page layout to an article after clicking a read more; this has been a feature since Joomla 1.6.

Hello,

I don't understand your reply. I don't see what is turned off in Vertex? I did what you say about category, no result. In fact, what is the difference between
Joomla 2.5 which is contructing url like this :
http://www.franckdrapeau.com/joombfd/index.php/beaute-spotlight-news-2/787-evenement-graine-de-pastel-illumine-le-marais
and Joomla 3.4 with is constructing url like this :
http://www.franckdrapeau.com/joombfd/joom3/index.php/actualites-b?id=787:evenement-graine-de-pastel-illumine-le-marais

The same articles with the same id? I've just transfered articles from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.4 (with sptransfer). Same parameters in Vertex, same all.
What can I do ? Could you post me a screen capture to show me ?

Thanks

Hello,

Under the General tab there a feature that allows you to turn off and on the component area on specified pages, you currently have that turned off so the article isn't showing. If you follow the instructions of setting up a menu item for that category though this won't be necessary.

The module itself doesn't create the url, it just echos out the default Joomla url that's already assigned to that article. Again if you want only the article itself to show on those pages you need to follow the instructions I posted above, by creating a new menu item that points to the category that contains your articles. On that menu item do not publish any modules. Once you do that the read more link will take on the layout of that new menu item's page layout and module assignments, until you do that Joomla will assign the same modules and layout as the parent page where you clicked the read more.

Hi,

I'm sorry but the spotlight "read more" button don't work correctly in this case. I did everything you said, it don't work (I've found the General Tab you said about, I've tried every possibilities). Perhaps I've been not very clear in my purpose. What I want is what I had in Joomla 2.5 :
http://www.franckdrapeau.com/joombfd/index.php/actualites-b
Click on one of the spotlights at left position, you'll see what I mean.

When I installed spotlight in Joomla 2.5, I didn't anything else but create my categories (spotlight beaute 1 for example), edit my modules (beaute spotlight  for example), then my articles that are in their category.

And Spotlight is the only element witch echoes out url like that in this website. So I need some help more please.

Thank you

Hello,

Did you assign a menu item to the category of your articles? You have to do this or the modules will remain on the same page. If you can private message me super admin access and ftp access I can review this for you, but please also tell me the menu item you've setup for this so I can review its settings.

Hello,

I received your information, please keep that information in the forum boards. Sending via email will slow down the support process.

I have reviewed your site and it is very difficult to pin point the exact problem because of the amount of style assignments you are using along with the amount of menu items. Is there a specific reason why there is so many template styles? I just want to make sure they are all necessary, as I've never seen site with this many, it's typically one extra style or two at most. It's fine if you have more, it's just making it difficult to debug this.

There seems to be bigger issues going on with your site. While debugging I noticed you had the component area turned off for the style "sports_nation - beaut?" under the menu item "beaute spotlight 1", which is most likely why your articles aren't showing, because you have the component area turned off for any pages associated to that. To test this I turned it back on, and now hardly any of your modules are loading, I put it back on and still hardly any of your modules will load. There's nothing involved with that setting that would cause, it simply turns the feature on and off. I do not know what is causing your modules to not load.

I also checked your menu items "beaute spotlight 1" and "enfant spotlight 1", and you can see under the Modules tab when editing the menu item that there are quite a few modules still assigned to that page. Any module marked as "all" will show on that page, and will not show the article by itself. Those modules need to be set to specific pages or to exclude certain pages.
