I'm working with a client who's looking at using WordPress Multisite platform to have a selection of themes (redesigned to replicate their business) available for their company's customers to reproduce into subdomain sites. (Almost exactly like setting up a blog via wordpress.org, which is the WP Multisite platform)

I'm wondering:

1. Does your WordPress Vertex framework have any Themes (templates) that support FRONT-END editing (such as the WP.org site or akin to goDaddy's Website Designer Service), so that the client's customers (who will have very little to no knowledge of middle-end/back-end development, nor the ability to access the back-end) be able to make the final front-end changes and content updates on their own?

2. At the Developer level club membership for Wordpress, after my initial redesign of a wordpress theme, is there any EULA/TOS tort in creating a site that redistributes those edited themes to users that will only have front-end access?

Thanks.

Hello,

1. Vertex currently does not have any frontend editing options outside of what default comes with WP.

2.  Unfortunately this would violate our terms of use.

To follow up:

1.  I was looking explicitly at Thrive Content Builder, when I posed that question. Not sure if there'd be issues between Vertex framework and that plugin(widget) manipulating content.

2. For a little more information about the process, all the sites would be child sites of the main site address. My client want to provide its members with a website network, exactly like a free blog via wordpress on wordpress.org. So, I guess then the question is: what is the best way to get themes developed for this purpose? Do you guys have a service for this? It seems like you already have everything I need created and it's just a matter of how much I'd pay for licensing.

Hello,

1) You can try out the Thrive Content Builder but we haven't tested that with Vertex. As long as it is coded properly and not calling scripts improperly it should be fine.

2) If will have one of our accounts experts get back to you on this

Hello,

In regards to #2, we do not allow redistribution of our products outside of a one to one relationship with a developer and their client. Even if your client is hosting the sites, from your description above, it is still distributing access to files themselves. Each of those members must have an active license of their own in order to use our products.

In addition to Mike's response I'd like to add that one of the main reason's we don't allow redistribution of our products is because of support.  All the documentation and support that is needed to operate Vertex and the templates that run on them are found here on Shape5.com.
