Hello,

I would suggest 1280x720 for resolution and the video should be in .mp4 format. In terms of uploading it why not just upload it to your server where the website is located?

...i also wanted to paste a youtube-link and just realised this does not work  Angry

i think it will slow down the website a lot if it has to load the video file from my own server compared to youtube, won't it...(?)

i just used a similar theme for a customer that was made by another company. in that theme i could use a youtube video link for the background. as youtube is prbly much faster than any video stream coming from my own server your incline theme might be too slow(?) and kind of....useless in terms of seo...(?) - pls correct me if i am wrong...

Hello,

Uploading your video will generally be faster than Youtube as it loads directly from your server rather than a 3rd party. You also cannot have Autoplay when using a YouTube video as it is disabled on many devices to preserve battery life. We do not have any features to upload YouTube videos directly from the Template at this time.

Regards,

From reading this post, I just realized the overlay video is not meant to be loaded from youtube. For that matter, I noticed the media manager won't accept videos, so I assume they cannot be hosted here, but should be loading from outside the joomla directory? Thanks,

Hello,

You can load them from any url on your site. I would suggest uploading them through ftp though, large files may time out when using the media manager.

Thanks Mike;  I tried to upload a 7 meg MP4 through media manager. At first it said the file was too large, then for a smaller file, that it wasn't a valid image (I even tried adding MP4 to the accepted file types).  Bottom line, do I need to have it uploaded by my webhost outside joomla?

Hello,

You should use ftp to upload it. You can use a program like filezilla to upload files directly to your servers folders.

If I may be of any help, here's how I did it: I used filezilla as an ftp client to upload my own video, which is a long one, mp4 format and 1280x720 as resolution. The video takes roughly 2 seconds to begin playing as it is streamed from the web server (which means it does not wait to be loaded entirely to begin playing). I then set the overlay image to stay on for 3 seconds, just to be on the safe site.

This worked great for me.

Hope this helps.

Thank you AG.  As soon as my webhost's ftp is back online I'll load a test video and see how it goes. I've uploaded other files there, so that shouldn't be an issue. I mistakenly was trying to post inside the media manager.
Thanks again,
