Hi guys,

Just wondering if there's a quick and easy way to hide the Login and Register buttons on the top corner of the site. I tried unpublishing the associated modules, but it seems that that only disables the functionality once you click the buttons. I want the buttons to be invisible, and I can't seem to find out how to hide them!

I'm also wondering how to hide the 1-800 number on the right side of the page...

Last question- I figured out how to replace the Zoka logo with my own, but the formatting I apply to my custom HTML Module doesn't appear on the site. For instance, I've written some text (as a filler until our logo arrives) and tried to center it, but the text still appears on the left side of the page.

The site is www.smartstrength.us.

Thanks in advance!

Also, while we're at it, I'm trying to figure out how to make all the blank white space (vertically) between the modules disappear. Any idea what's causing that?

thanks!

Hello,

1) In the Template Manager > General Tab > Login Text/Logout Text/Register Text leave these fields completely blank and they won't appear on the front end.

2) Leave the 1-800 input box in the Template Settings blank as well and it won't appear.

3) Removing the width value for the logo module in the Template.CSS should help when your not using an image with a set size.

4) If you are referring to the Home Page spacing this is due to a blank content/component area since no article is being used. You can disable the component on any pages without articles to remove this space under the General Tab > Hide Component On Pages.

Thanks so much! I successfully removed the number and the login/register buttons from the home page. Didn't realize there were so many options in the template manager, that's very helpful, thank you.

In section 3 of your post, are you referring to the actual template.css file in the joomla stack? Will I have to go in and edit the code? I looked within the template manager to see if there was a CSS or style section that had a logo width parameter, but couldn't find one, so I'm not sure what you mean.

I'm also having a little trouble finding the "Hide Components on Pages" option you mention in section 4 of your post. Did you mean the general tab within the template manager, or a different general tab?

Sorry for my general ignorance, thanks for the help!

---------
New questions:

1. The template came with a lot of articles that I've unpublished, but that I like the formatting of. I can still find the articles in "Article Manager," but I'd like to be able to preview some of these articles and see their formatting without having to publish them anywhere on the website. Is there a preview option so that I can see which articles I can cannibalize and make my own for other parts of the website?

2. And finally, I'm wondering about URL management. For instance, when I click on "About Tom" in our menu, it takes us to http://smartstrength.us/index.php/extensions, which I assume is because the menu is considered an extension, so the command gets filtered through the extensions sections of the joomla back end (or something). My question is: is there a way to make the URLs appear a bit neater, and hide the back end complexities? If we could have smartstrength.us/about_tom, that'd be ideal. The same goes for the messy URL that clicking "More Info" in the Personal Training box gives.

Thanks again!

Oh and lastly, where can I find the place to edit the Copyright text at the bottom of the home page?

Thanks again!

Hello,

See my response in red below to both posts combined.

--- You need to navigate to your sites server and find the Template.CSS file for the Template. It is located in the /css folder for "zoka transports" and you would just need to remove the width value from the logo coding. I would get familiar with a tool called Firebug as it will tell you where to find CSS on your server and exactly what line it is on. We have a good Tutorial for it in our Wiki on the site you can use.

I'm also having a little trouble finding the "Hide Components on Pages" option you mention in section 4 of your post. Did you mean the general tab within the template manager, or a different general tab?

--- Within the Template Manager under the "General" for Vertex there is a section about halfway down called "Hide Components on Pages". You just need to put a check box next to any pages you want to hide this area.

--- All the content can be viewed via the Article Manager or Module Manager in the back end of Joomla. I would suggest toggling to the Raw HTML view of the content so you can copy paste any coding needed for your own content. Generally the Article Preview view will just show the results of the coding but not the engine behind it. You can either Toggle the Editor or change your editor to None in the Global Configuration which will always show you the Raw HTML of the content.
