Hi S5,
We are not currently going to be using the S5 Box register and the S5 Box Log in Lime Light. I have removed the widgets from these sections in the admin panel as the instructions say to do but the buttons do not disappear when viewing on a mobile device. Any ideas?

Thanks

At the bottom of the "General" tab in the theme options, you'll need to remove the text from the Login/Logout/Register fields.

At the bottom of the "Layout" tab, there are options to force those buttons to disabled on mobile, if for some reason you want them on desktop but don't want them to show on mobile.  If for some reason removing the text isn't disabling them, then this other option will.

Hi Tristan,
Thanks for the reply. I had already removed the Login/Register field content to remove these from the desktop version of the site.
  • The items I am having a problem with are the register and log in toggle icons( see screen shots - "Mobile 1 & Mobile 2")
  • I removed/unpublished the widgets from the S5 - Box log in and S5-Box Register(see screen shot -"S5-Boxes") and they do not disappear.
  • I can not find the disable Login and Register settings at the bottom of the Layout settings (See Screen shot- "Disable Links").
I am not sure if there might me an issue with the version of Vertex I have. But I cannot tell what version it is. The about tab does not show it (see screen shot - "vertex version")

Thanks

Hi Tristan,
Sorry I forgot to add the Screen shots. The first 4 are on the original note and the last is on this one.

Hi Tristan,
Sorry, I did not understand what you meant in your reply that said:

I could not find these settings at the bottom of the "Layout" tab. In searching for a fix to another issue I was having I discovered the version of Vertex may have needed to be updated. I followed the "Patch Vertex" help page and now the settings are there to disable the buttons for login and register on mobile. Unfortunately, the settings have no affect on the mobile buttons. They still display.
I had to take the website live last week so I had to come up with a work around and added some CSS to remove the buttons. I have set up a clean install demo site of the theme at http://redcommunicationsllc.com/stairway/ so that you can see what I am talking about. The settings on the "Layout" tab are set to "Force Disable" the login and register buttons for mobile.
The only modifications to this demo installation was swapping out the top_bg.jpg with our image and moving it from the "Header Background Image Name" setting on the "Template Specific" tab to the "Main body background" settings on the "Backgrounds" tab. I have also applied the Vertex patch. I put in this image to demonstrate another issue I am having regarding the background settings that I will start another ticket for.
Thanks

The site you linked to definitely still has the widgets in the Login and Register positions.  The text that appears when clicking on those links/buttons is widget content.  If there were no widgets in the positions, the popup would be blank.

HI Tristan,
I know the site has widgets in those positions. I did not link to the live site because I have removed the desktop buttons for the login and register by clearing the settings fields in the "General" tab and removed the mobile buttons with CSS. I linked to the demo site with the widget content in the Login and Register positions to show you that the settings are not functioning as you have said they would. One of your posts said:
At the bottom of the "General" tab in the theme options, you'll need to remove the text from the Login/Logout/Register fields.

At the bottom of the "Layout" tab, there are options to force those buttons to disabled on mobile, if for some reason you want them on desktop but don't want them to show on mobile.  If for some reason removing the text isn't disabling them, then this other option will.
I have done that but they are still there as you have noted.
If I remove the widgets from the Login and register positions the imageSlider at the top disappears. But that is another issue and thankfully we are not using the slider.

Could you please answer:
Is it possible to remove/hide the login & register buttons on mobile within the Theme Settings?

If it is not possible then I will just leave in the CSS code that hides the buttons on mobile and move on. I would like to use the Theme Settings as much as possible so that when I hand off the site it is easy to manage instead of having to keep extra code in the custom files.

Thanks

If you can provide login/FTP information for your site(s) as requested here, I'll take a look at it.
