I downloaded the SiteShaper_Shape5_Cyan_WP.zip from Shape5 website today but I am unable to successfully extract the files.  I tried two different ZIP applications and both failed to extract any data.  WinZip gave the following error:

Warning: skipping ?wordpress\license.txt. The general
purpose flags stored in the local header for this file are
not the same as the general purpose flags stored in the
central header.

If I let WinZip continue it extracts some files but they have no content; 0 bytes.  Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I used WinRAR to test my local copy of the Shaper zip file and got no errors, so I've re-uploaded it to the downloads server, try downloading it again and see if that's any better.

Tristan,
Thanks for the quick reply to my problem.  And thanks for the idea to use WinRAR to uncompress the ZIP file.  That seems to have worked fine.  I followed the tutorial on the Shape5 website for "How to install a Site Shaper" and got everything to proceed pretty much as documented up to the radio-button pick at 6:00 minutes.  That is the point where you "get to decide" whether to install the SiteShaper data.  The current WordPress loader did not have that button on the form so I proceeded with the install.  It completed and I updated WP, widgets, templates, etc.

Problem is that the site is completely vanilla - no pictures, articles, etc. and there is no CYAN-specific configuration menu in the Appearance menus.  I do have the Shape 5 Theme menu but none of the theme option buttons do anything.  I went to the Plugins menu and enabled the "Shape5 Sample Data Injector - Cyan"  which appeared to run and then deactivated itself.  Still nothing more than a vanilla CYAN site.

I assumed that  when I loaded the Site Shaper files that my site would look like the demo site, complete with pictures and articles.  Is there something I'm doing incorrectly?

Tristan,
Thanks for the quick reply to my problem.

That step of the video is no longer necessary.  All shaper content is now installed automatically.  The set by step instructions in the Wordpress FAQ are probably better than the video at this point, but there's enough correct information in the video that we're keeping it until I personally have a chance to record a new one.

Regarding the images - from the Shape 5 Terms of Use:

Quote
15. CONTENT AND IMAGES: All content and images shown on Shape5 demos are for presentation purposes only. Demo sites are intended to exemplify a live website and do not make any claim of any kind to the validity of non-Shape5 content, images or posts published. Stock photography is usually purchased from shutterstock.com, and is not included with with any template or theme, nor are they included as part of your membership. Links will be provided for some images if you wish to purchase stock photography from their copyright owners in our downloads section.

Essentially, what that's saying is that the images on the demo are stock images that were purchased for only the demos and due to licensing, they cannot be included in the shaper; this is why all the images in a shaper installation are the "Sample" placeholder.

As for the Theme Options area, there's a Vertex Upgrade Patch that fixes the admin issues and improves a lot of things in the framework.  The only problem is that you will need to manually update all the Shape5 plugins from the downloads area of this site because the patch changes the core javascript library and the older versions of the plugins will stop working after the update.

I assumed that  when I loaded the Site Shaper files that my site would look like the demo site, complete with pictures and articles.  Is there something I'm doing incorrectly?

As stated above, the images in the shaper are placeholders because the ones from the demo are only licensed for the demo; I'm not sure what happened to the text widgets from the demo, but the main content is still there.  One problem I see with your site is that you need to reset the permalinks settings under "Settings->Permalinks"; it should be as simple as clicking "Save" on that page, but if not, just select the "Post name" option and save that.

Thanks for the link, most people forget to include one, and it's usually a big help to have it.

Tristan,
I appreciate your help in trying to get this to work properly.  I'm trying to figure out why this didn't work properly the first time and whether I should start over from scratch.

As previously stated, I tried to followed all of the steps in the published installation instructions as closely as possible:
1. download siteshaper zip file
2. expand siteshaper zip contents to local directory
3. create a sub-folder under public_html
4. copy all CYAN files to the sub-folder
5. create a new WP database and admin account, and grant all privileges to account
6. navigate to the http://.../sub-folder and create a configuration folder
7. run install and enter site information (no install demo content from Shape 5 option on form)
8. login to the newly created WordPress site
9. update the site to latest version of WordPress
****  At this point the tutorial and reality diverge significantly  ****

10. run the "Shape5 Sample Data Injector - Cyan" plugin
****  I now have a vanilla version of the CYAN site but none of the options in the Shape 5 Theme menu are working.  ****
****  I followed the recommended update steps provided  ****

11. download and expand the files for the WordPress "Vertex Version 3.4 Upgrade Patch"
12. delete the "includes" folder from the vertex folder
13. upload the patch files into the "s5_cyan" theme folder in WordPress
14. from the Shape 5 Theme menu pick the SAVE button
15. from the Shape 5 Plugins menu switch the "Javascript Library" to JScript  (upgrade instructions say Mootools will no longer be supported)
16. from the Settings, Permalinks menu pick the SAVE button
17. from the Plugins menu select all of the S5 plugins and do a bulk update (not sure what you meant by "manually update" the plugins)
**** at this point I have some of the CYAN template but not what I had before the updates so I ran the injector again ****

18. activate the "Shape5 Sample Data Injector - Cyan" and get notice of database update required, pick the update button
**** I receive the following error: The plugin wp-cleanup/wp-cleanup.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.  ****
**** When I go back into the Shape5 Plugins menu the "Javascript Library" is reset to Mootools  *****

**************************************************************************************************************

I'm willing to wipe this install out and try again from scratch if I did something wrong or in the wrong order.
I'm also willing to do some more hacking if my current install is repairable.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Mark

By "manually update", I meant you will need to download the latest versions of those plugins from this site.  The only Shape 5 plugin that is in the WordPress Plugin Repository is the Image and Content Fader.  All others can only be updated by re-downloading them and replacing the existing versions.

It's odd that the text widgets aren't showing up in your install, it may just be that there's a processing limit on your server that is keeping that part of the demo content from being injected into the database; I don't think that should matter too much though.  If you update the plugins, you should easily be able to get the site up and running.  If you're willing to continue forward without it looking exactly like the demo, I'll do my best to answer any questions you have while you're adding your own content.
