Hi there,

I have just installed that theme using Site Shaper to learn things work and a clean install of the theme only on a Wordpress site. In both instances, I am experiencing the same issues:
- The responsive menu does not open
- the s5image and content fader v3 - does not work at all when with the Jquery, it shows a large white space with the thumbnail on the side. I can see the thumbnails, so the image urls are not the issue. When I go into legacy, I can see the images, but then it is not responsive and I don't see the text and the navigation arrow.

Vertex is  the latest version.

I need help on fixing that please.

Thanks

Please remember to always post a link to your site when having issues with something on the front-end; I can't even begin to diagnose the cause of a problem if I can't see what's happening and inspect the code with Firebug.

Hi there,

I have finally uploaded my site on a staging server.

I have 3 issues:

1)  the menu does not open when of the size of a cellphone

2) texts on my pages are stripped from their formating codes: http://www.labaguette.ca/staging/contact-us/ or this page: http://www.labaguette.ca/staging/about-the-bakery/  -

If I apply a different theme, then it is formatted the way it is supposed to be.

3) on Firefox, the background image does not cover the full screen the way it does in Chrome.

It is not related to any change that I did in custom.css as I have the same issue if I delete all the codes on that file to keep the theme basic codes.

Please advise.

1)  the menu does not open when of the size of a cellphone

Do you have a menu assigned to the mobile position on the Appearance->Menus page of the admin?

2) texts on my pages are stripped from their formating codes: http://www.labaguette.ca/staging/contact-us/ or this page: http://www.labaguette.ca/staging/about-the-bakery/  -

On the "Advanced" tab of the theme options, disable the "RAW HTML Mode" option.

3) on Firefox, the background image does not cover the full screen the way it does in Chrome.

It works fine on the demo, so it's either a CSS issue, a settings issue, or it's possible that your image isn't tall enough.  I'm not sure what Chrome does differently, but the image is set to fit 100% width of the browser, it has no height detection.  The way the demo makes it look like the image is infinite height is by having the bottom of the image fade to the background color, which makes it look like there's no bottom edge on the image.

Hi there,

1) I have assigned a menu for mobile in the appearance. But is still does not work. As mentioned previously, I have set up SiteShaper with the demo data and it has the same issue right out of the box.

2) and 3) are fixed, thank you.

Regards

If you are running the latest version of the Vertex Upgrade Patch, I recommend switching the mobile menu to the Sidebar layout ("Layout Type" on the "Layout" tab of the theme options - about half way down).

I'm not sure what's causing the drop-down version to not work, but if you try the sidebar version and like it, that seems like a reasonable solution.

Hi there,

I wanted to try your solution.

I have upgraded vertex to 3.4  although there was a message saying that it was the latest vertex version even if it was 3.0.

Anyway, it stripped the template specific tab so I lost the layout. Fortunately it was my local copy. Which files and folder do I need to upgrade to get Vestex 3.4 and still keep the template specific features?

Thanks

The only way it would have lost that tab is if you deleted the xml folder when patching.  At most, you should only delete the vertex folder, nothing else.  Any additional files that are upgraded by the patch can just be overwritten when prompted.

Hi there,

There must be something more to do fix that issue. I tried various scenarios without success.

  • If I take my original set up and apply the patch without the xml file, Vertex does not get updated and I still have the issue with the menu in the cellphone format.

If I take my original set up and apply the patch with the xml file, Vertex is updated and the menu issue is fixed, but I loose the "template specific" tab, and the site does not look like anything

So I am guessing that there are some files in the xml folder that I need to keep. Instead of playing around and wasting time, I would need a specific answer about which files I need to keep in the xml folder so that I can have both the upgrade and a functioning site.

Do not delete the xml folder when patching, just overwrite it.  There are 2 XML files in that folder (as well as translation files for them), one is for the specific theme, and one is for the framework.  If you just overwrite the xml folder, the framework files will be replaced without removing the theme-specific files.

Hi there,

1) I was finally able to update Vertex and the site is fine. One thing that did not update properly: the Widgets styles. I don't see any options in the drop downs anymore. How do I update that part? Where is it located so that I can move it?

2) How can I show the widget titles when I need/want to - or is it related to question #1?

Thanks

If you deleted the templateDetails.xml file when patching, that would explain the loss of the widget styles in the dropdown, as that is where they are defined.

As for showing widget titles: if a title is defined, it will show.  There is currently no option to disable widget titles, other than just choosing not to have a title at all.

Hi there,

the templateDetails.xml is there and showing the options in the codes, but it does not show in the backend. I did not delete it.

Initially, I had to go all this because right out of the box, the cellphone version did not work. Also, I don't quite understand why, when I downloaded the theme, I did not have the latest version of Vertex, instead of going through all that. I never had so many issues with themes, so to say that it is my fault...

Just out of curiosity, are the widget styles in the xml showing as <colors><color>-style</color></colors> or <styles><style>-style</style></styles>?

If they are listed as "<colors>", try replacing the <colors> and <color> tags with <styles> and <style>.  That is the new standard in the XML going forward, and while the framework does have backwards compatibility built in, some times it fails for a reason that I haven't managed to figure out yet.

Hi there,

Changing color/colors by style/styles shows the drop down options, but when I test them, there is no change. It looks the same if I chose dark or highlight. It sounds like the codes are not connected.

Please advise.
