We are using this theme like one would expect as a news portal and we plan to use an aggregator to help us accomplish this.  My question is that in the demo and siteshaper the main featured articles like "Latest News (Obama), Sports and Food" are all tied to a specific article.  That does not lend itself to very easily updating the sites frontpage if you're using a content aggregator.

We are looking at the one by 3DWeb.  It works with RSS feeds and then is supposed to lets us choose the article we want and write a brief synopsis, choose the main image and post it with a read more that links to the actual article.  That way we are not duping or stealing content.

To make this more of a true workflow I'd like to be able to have the "featured" article from each of these topics be the one that is chosen to display.   This is all structured in categories.  Something like that latest news I guess and select the category.

Suggestions?

Hello,

To make sure I understand fully you basically need modules on the frontpage to pull content via RSS or other technology and display it on your site. This out of the box with Joomla isn't possible you would need a 3rd party extension which I guess you are saying 3DWeb has or they at least have the technology to do this. So you could get someone to custom code a module to integrate with what 3DWeb has available or perhaps check on extensions.joomla.org for a news aggregator as you describe.

But out of the box Content King is using Joomla modules that pull from Joomla only and there is no option to pull from elsewhere like an RSS feed without doing some custom coding.

Specifically I need it to pull content from K2.  Not the standard Joomla content and articles.  Actually I need all the Shape5 modules like "S5 News Display" and those that populate the front end to pull from there.

Oh ok unfortunately since these modules can't do this out of the box you would either have to get someone to custom code them to pull from K2 or use a K2 module instead of these.

To be honest, the K2 plugins look pretty ugly in your theme.  They really need to be what you guys created to look right.  It would be the News_Display_2  How would I go about this?

The only way to go about this would be to hire someone to code the News Display module to work with K2 and pull their articles.
