Hi there

I started with you last week, download the theme and installed it - All went well.
See http://www.hengelo60revival.nl/

Then I started to update the site and suddenly I realized that the widget styling had gone, and only default is left. See the S5 MP3 widget
I had meanwhile installed some standard plug ins, so i removed all of those but the styling did not return.
Attached are two pics, one with the problem, and one which is from a 2nd test server at home which i use as reference model, and which still shows the lay-out.

Your help is most appreciated and i hope i can restore it without having to rebuild the whole site.And maybe you can tell me what could have been the offending plug-in.
I added a login widget, a tiny MCE editor and a picture gallery.
Plus some security   stuff.

Best regards

Erik, Hengelo - the Netherlands

Remark: I have restored an earlier version of the website adn the styling is back - will investigate myself also why and when it is disappearing.

Have you installed the Vertex Upgrade Patch recently?  There seems to be an issue on a very small number of servers where the code I added to the patch that allows backwards-compatibility with a slightly different XML structure is unsuccessful at detecting the old structure properly.

The fix is very easy.  At the top of the templateDetails.xml file, you will see the widget styles in the following structure:

Code:
<colors>
   <color>-style1</color>
   <color>-style2</color>
</colors>

That structure needs to be updated to look like this:

Code:
<styles>
   <style>-style1</style>
   <style>-style2</style>
</styles>

Tristan
I did install the vertex patch.
Every time I change something in a widget which also has style, not necessarily in the MP3 widget, it loses the lay-out.

So i followed your instructions and changed

<colors>
   <color>-highlight</color>
   <color>-darkback_nospacing</color>
   <color>-darkback</color>
   <color>-lines</color>
</colors>

into

<styles>
      <style>-highlight</style>
      <style>-darkback_nospacing</style>
      <style>-darkback</style>
      <style>-lines</style>
</styles>

So far it seems to work, and i will continue to build the site.
Many thanks for the quick help.

The reason widgets were losing the layout was because the list of styles wasn't populated, and everything was returning to "default"; now that you've fixed the compatibility issue, you should no longer have that problem.

I happened again. I changed a picture in the S5 Image slider and as a result, the formatting of the MP3 player disappeared again. Opened the TemplateDetails.xml, and changed it again and then it worked, however, now the images for the mp'3 did not show up. Will investigate further.
I can reproduce the effect.

Can you provide a link to your site so I can see what's happening?

Once you've changed the XML, it should stay that way; when you say you had to change it again, does that mean that you put it back to the way it was before?  If so, that's part of the problem.  Once you've patched and updated the xml structure, it needs to stay updated; it should not be changed back.

See attachment for what it looks before and after the editing of a widget

Editing templatedetails.xml fix restored the functionality.   Grin

For WP (Blue Group): this is broken out of the box when you download the template. / site shaper.

Thanks for letting me know.  That issue has been fixed in the Vertex Upgrade Patch already, I just haven't had time to go back through all the downloads and re-patch them.
