I am having a problem, I followed all of your instructions that are on this link ( http://www.shape5.com/documentation/Joomla/Advanced/How-To-Duplicate-Templates-and-Files-in-Joomla ) in order to make a duplicate template with a different name on the template manager. But the design changed and the menu no longer shows neither does the login icon nor the social media icons on the top of the page as you can see in the screenshot that I am attaching. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advanced

Hello,

The name of the old template is most likely still in your file, did you fully complete steps 5 and 6? You need to replace all instances of the old template name, especially in templateDetails.xml

I did step 5 and on step 6, the file specific.xml has no language script not is there is anything with the template name "spectrum," so I didn't need to modify anything on step 6. I changed the file name  "en-GB.tpl_spectrum.ini under the en-GB<Language to the new template name. Is there any other file that I have to update?

Thanks,
Edwin

Hello,

Step 5 is about updating templateDetails.xml, you must update ALL instances of "spectrum" in that file, it is in there multiple times. Those are the only two places you would need to modify the name.

I changed Anything with "spectrum" using the find and replace tool on templateDetails.xml but I still have the problem where the menu bar is not showing and the social media icons. Could it have anything to do with vertex version?

Hello,

It wouldn't have anything to do with the Vertex version. The steps listed on that tutorial are all that's needed. The other thing you could do is download a fresh copy of the template, extract the files locally, make the changes locally, then re-package the zip file and install it like a normal template. In other words completely ignore the template manager processes and just create a new template install basically.
