Hi, Now that my site is live using the Incline template, its repeatedly getting excessive 'cpu' usage and is being taken offline by siteground.
Is there anything in the template that might be generating these excesses? I built my site on top of the siteshaper and have disabled most all of the menu items and most of the modules that I'm not using.  I'm installed optimize and cache cleaner components, and am using CloudFlare.  I also set a password on my administrator folder in the backend of siteground thinking perhaps bots were accessing and creating executions while I was working in it.
Thanks for any thoughts -

Hello,

A template itself doesn't really do any processing, it just stylizes the site and almost all of that is done client side not server side. You should ask Siteground to isolate what files specifically are taking up resources, they should be able to provide that. There is probably some kind of third party extension that is causing this.

Thank you Mike. They've freed up resources but I still don't know what the issue is.
They've recommended I disable all plug-ins as a process of elimination, which seems drastic. I've only added a couple; an xml sitemap generator, google analytics, etc.  Would you know of any plug-ins that might be the issue?

From their support: "I checked the case and I confirm that your index.php file is generating the high CPU usage."  I am not a tech guy so this doesn't tell me much. Could it be my homepage, where along with the video there may be too many modules? If you can take a look, that would be great.  dcpr.com
Thanks!

Hello,

I can't imagine what would cause any of that. Modules usually have very little load on them. The only thing I can think of is to disable all extensions and ask them to then check the load and bring them back on one by one; which sounds like what they are suggesting. If they can't pin point the exact cause for you, that's really the only way to identify the issue.

Is it possible the looping video causes the CPU load?  Perhaps if it only played once rather than continuous, and required the visitor to refresh the page to play it again?

Hello,

No, there is no way the video would cause server cpu load, it only downloads to the local machine and is run on client side, not server side. Again, the best way to debug this is what I suggested above by disabling everything and asking them to check the load.

Thanks, but I'm not sure how I could disable everything and test while the site is now live.  I created my site using the siteshaper, making copies of the modules, etc., that I wanted to use. Even though I disabled the old menu items and articles, would they still create a load? In other words, should I delete/trash everything rather than just disable/unpublish? Thanks,

Hello,

An unpublished item does not load on the site, it has no way to effect load.

Disabling everything as suggested is the best way to diagnose this unless your host can give you more information on the exact items that are causing load.
