I am using joomla and in the template manager when I go into eMercantilism it says

The parameter file /templates/emercantilism/params.ini is unwritable!

Is that supposed to be unwritable?

And when I go to my products page it looks nothing like the emercantilism template that I downloaded.....

Thanks for any help you can offer...

This is due to permissions on your server for this file.

You can change the params.ini permissions using an FTP client, just right click on it and change to writable/777 or you can open up this file and edit it manually then overwrite it and save.
