Question #1: How do I change the background color to the dark grey color that is in the orenge preset on the demo. I went into the template parameters and made sure that it was writable and changed the color scheme from blue to orange; now the buttons are orange, but the background is still blue. What do I need to put for the color scheme and color background parameters?

Question #2: How do I change the colors of all of the orange buttons on the template to gold (#ffcc33)? Jonah, I think you mentioned to me before about editing the css, but how exactly should I do this? I need step by step instructions.

Thanks! Huh

This topic will help you with the background image problem.

Edits to add:

Wait, image or actual colors?

1.  Yes you are almost there, you have to change the color scheme but we don't define the background for more flexibility so you must grab the "City Portal - January 2009 - Backgrounds" from the downloads section and upload the orange one to a folder on your server.  Then in the parameters area input the URL to where your image is and also input the background color to what the image is labeled (this is the HEX color you need).

2.  For the menu items, the register and login buttons you would need to do this via the PSD file in photoshop as these are images files.

Thanks, fixed the background. It worked fine, and was easier than I thought. Will try to edit the buttons soon.

Hi Jonah,

I have changed the colours and replaced the s5_cityportal_activeleft and right, however the middle of the menu is now clear. See attached image.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Thanks

Hi Jonahh

The url is http://75.125.60.12/~sapphir5/

You have seen this one before  Embarrassed (mediaplate), this one didn't appeal to the customer, however they prefer the look of cityportal.

Thanks

Oh ok, I see the problem, its because the right menu image is too short.  The menu images are comprised of two images a short left and a long right one.  For example here is the one seen in the demo:

http://shape5.com/demo/city_portal/templates/city_portal/images/s5_cityportal_rightactive.jpg

What you need to do is just lengthen the s5_cityportal_rightactive.jpg image.
