My site is linked by a large Wiki-Project with an own Link-template which is based on the Joomla-article-id or the category id.
To get an impression please compare the reaction of the template Joomla-Links with the Menu-Links and let me know what I can do to get the right designsettings and moduls applied also to links based on Joomlacontent-article or category-id:

Example 1 Category
Correct displayed Menulink:
http://klassik.s-fahl.de/index.php/en/komponisten-abc/k/kahn-robert

Wrong displayed Template-Joomla-Content-Category-Link:
http://klassik.s-fahl.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=186&lang=en

Example 2 Artcle
Correct displayed Menulink:
http://klassik.s-fahl.de/index.php/en/home/composers/k/kahn-robert/kahn-chambermusic/pianoquintetts/1025-r-kahn-pianoquintett-c-minor-op-54

Wrong displayed Template-Joomla-Content-Article-Link:
http://klassik.s-fahl.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1025&lang=en

You will see that the Templatesettings done in the backend are not respected, like positions, margins, background or Text colors etc.
Please let me know what I can do tha my templatesettings fully aplly also on Joomla-content-Links directed to Article or Category-id's

Hello,

Support is not immediate, posts are answered within 24 business hours, your post is from this morning.

I am not sure what you mean by a link template. If you are using something that is manipulating page creation or url structure that's not something that we support. Templates are designed to work within the core structure of Joomla. Pages must be linked to actual menu item, without that it doesn't have an ID to assign the template style to. A link like this must have a menu item pointing to it or Joomla has no ID to assign settings, template styles, or modules to:

http://klassik.s-fahl.de/index.php/en/?option=com_content&view=category&id=186

Those pages are ignoring the default vertex.json files, which would indicate a page assignment issue within the structure of your site. You can try patching with the latest files of Vertex, we did make a recent change that sets a default setting if none can be found, but there's no guarantee:

Hello,

Support is not immediate, posts are answered within 24 business hours, your post is from this morning.
I expected support only on " Business hours: Monday through Friday 9AM to 5PM EST"

I am not sure what you mean by a link template. If you are using something that is manipulating page creation or url structure that's not something that we support. Templates are designed to work within the core structure of Joomla.
No, It is part of the Joomla core structure, that you can either set links to menuitems but !!!! you can also regularly set links to contentitems. This is pretty normal and regular in Joomla nd defenitly nothing necessary to manipulate anything at all.

To be clear:
there is nothing at all that does manipulate anything! The "templates" im am talking are Templates inside the Wiki-System wich links to my site they simply link dirextly to Joomla content items as every-Joomla-User can do likewise via the Links in the the Joomla contenttree as it is possible whenever you want to set a Link inside Joomla.

The Joomla-content is the core of Joomla!
I expect a Joomla-Template should be ready to display Joomla content correctly!

This can not be true, since this  was long time no problem at all an just came up with one of the larger Joomla-Updates in the last time. Therefore it seem to me more probable, that you perhhaps have to checkk, if your Templates are still compatible with the lates Joomla Versions in this aspect.

You can try patching with the latest files of Vertex, we did make a recent change that sets a default setting if none can be found, but there's no guarantee:

http://www.shape5.com/documentation/Vertex-Framework/Joomla-Specific/How-To-Patch-Vertex-In-Joomla-and-Changelog
This is simply impossible because I am already on Vertex 4.0:

"Available Updates
4.0.0

Current version of Vertex
4.0.0

Is what you are running
You have the latest version of the Shape 5 Vertex Framework for the Joomla 3.X platform.

Thanks for checking!"

I think the best would be, if you help me to find out why "Those pages are ignoring the default vertex.json files," since one of the last major Joomlaupdates, and you will probably might learn somthing interesting to keep all your Templates and Framework compatible to the latest Joomla versions.

If I can help you in any way (perhaps with FTP or Backendacces for you) please let me know.

Hello,

If you are using links to articles without any menu items via the menu manager, no that is not a standard way to use Joomla. Joomla works entirely off of page ID's, which are linked to menu items. Content items need to be linked to menu items; either the menu item itself needs to be linked to a menu item or the main category that the article belongs to must be published to a menu item for a link to work properly. That is the only way a page ID is created and this is the core functionality of Joomla that has never changed. Without a page ID Joomla has no reference to what content should be shown on the page so you have no way to control what modules will show, the layout of the page or settings of that page, because has nothing to associate it to.

"This can not be true, since this  was long time no problem at all an just came up with one of the larger Joomla-Updates in the last time. Therefore it seem to me more probable, that you perhhaps have to checkk, if your Templates are still compatible with the lates Joomla Versions in this aspect."

All of our Vertex templates are fully compatible with the latest version of Joomla. Nothing in the core of Joomla has changed with how page ID's are created or how we handle them in any recent version. We also have no reports of this from any other member.

Please private message me super admin access and ftp access so I can debug this and see if there's an easy change. Since you are not using standard menu item links with page ID's on your site though I cannot guarantee a change.

OK you are right I found that also the links done related to the contentree contain always an Itemid.
So I just changed the Wiki-Template adding a more or less general Menu-Item-Id,
The Template is definitly several years old. Obviously there must be a time, where the combination with an Menu-Item was not so indispensible as it is now..
So I think we will need no further investigation for the moment.
Thanks for answering.
