Hi There,

After upgrade Vertex from 4.0 to 4.1, my website shows "Template XML file not found".

How to fix it?

Thanks

Hello,

The Vertex update wouldn't effect the template's xml file, (templateDetails.xml), so I'm not sure how this would have happened. My assumption is that maybe not all the files were uploaded in the correct location or there is a permissions problem on the server. If you are able to, I would suggest extracting the files directly on the server itself with cpanel's file manager, rather than uploading them. That will prevent permissions issues.

Thanks.
Should I upload a folder to replace the original folder say "css" replace the original "css" folder? Or should I replace only the items inside css folder?
The new css folder has only five folders "bootstrap, core, font-awesome, ionicons, multibox'. should I only replace these folders within the original css and keep other files such as custom.css file in the original css folder unchanged?

Thanks

Hello,

I am not sure what you mean, you should not be uploading individual css files, you must patch the entire framework. Please follow the tutorial exactly as shown here:

Hi,
I did follow the instruction but it is not detailed enough.

My question is should I replace the old folders with the new ones or should I add the new files to the existing folder (this could result in replacing old folders and add new files).

I replaced the old folders with the new ones, and the error of XML missing occur. Hence checking.

Hello,

You simply upload all the files and folders and override the existing ones. Nothing in that process would touch the template's xml file. If you can private message me super admin access and ftp access I can patch it for you.

I've got the same with some templates when I update them.. template xml not found.. some work at once, others gives this error.

I know there is no same file to overwrite but somehow it goes wrong.. did 4 older sites on my local machine because I run php7 now on MAMP and 3 of them got the error. One worked as it should.

What can be a reason this happens, had this issue also in the past with a other few sites, not all. All overwritten direct though ftp or local.

Hello,

I am not sure, especially if some are working and some are not. I patched the one site for you a few months back and it worked with no issues. I would think maybe there's something wrong with your ftp client or perhaps something is timing out when they are uploading, because haven't been able to replicate this problem on any site I've tested it on. If you have a site right now with the issue I can try patching it for you.

Hoi Mike,

I can see later this week of one of the sites that are online are not patched to 4.1 yet. I let you know..
Can it be that it happens when some css is modified ? Usually some small changes like colors or margins.

Kind regards,

Hello,

No, css changes would cause an error like that, they are independent and don't effect xml files.
