I looked on the Download area for the template, and no version numbers are listed, nor is there a change log.  Angry

In a previous post, I had asked about how to install an updated Charlestown template, version 1.6, over version 1.0. I went to the Charlestown template download page, and no version is listed.

So how can I know if there is an update to a template?

After much searching, I was able to find the version inside the templateDetails.xml file:     version="1.6"  Cool

But how can I know the version without downloading, expanding and searching through the files? Where is it listed on the website?  Lips sealed

Hello,

There is no new version of this template since its release. Templates almost never come out with updated versions. Updates to a template almost never happen, and in the rare case that there is an update it's listed on the template's detail page.

The version compatibility in the xml file has to do a versioning command for Joomla, not a version of the template.

Updates happen on the framework level, not the template. Vertex is currently running Vertex 4.2. You can verify your version in the backend of the template configuration.
