I responded to a thread about Site Shaper and migration in another forum area.  Then I realized my questions about the User Choice template really belong here.

I have an implementation of User Choice at http://clarionupgrade.tnhillbillie.net/ -- and I've migrated content from a 1.0 site.

  • I can't figure out how to make the S5 Tab Show work properly (either the tabs or the content, even though I've published the appropriate modules to the Tab Show positions I added to the .xml file).
  • I can't figure out how to make the Tools button be the same style as the RSS Feeds, About This Site, and Bookmark This Site buttons.
  • I can't figure out how to make index.php stop appearing in the URL's for all the links.
  • I can't figure out how to make the menu across the top of the content area use the Suckerfish options -- do I have to put sub-menu items there first?

Hello,

1. Try publishing it to a body position, with a white background.

2. The tools button is meant to be a different style with a grey gradient.

3. I am not sure what you mean.

4. Sub menus are automatically shown when you create a sub menu item through the menu manager.

Thanks for all that information -- and so quickly!

For #3 -- Whenever I click on any link on my test site (clarionupgrade.tnhillbillie.net), the string index.php appears as part of the link's path.  I can't figure out why -- this has never happened in all my Joomla installations, so I don't know where to start looking for problems (I'm so NOT a programmer type).

I figured out the index.php issue.  I recalled having read something about SEF URL's a while back, so I played with that setting in the Global Configuration.  That was it.  When I set SEF's on, then changed the name of the htaccess file, the links worked.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a body position?

Thanks -- that worked!  I guess there is a small limitation on the "will work anywhere" description.  It's my lot in life to find those...
