I have disabled the S5_frontpage_display module.  Instead I have a jpg image posted in position user1.
There is one module,  mod_custom (containing the jpg image), enabled at position user1.
This module is assigned to one page, Mainmenu Home.

Also on the home page I have a list of virtuemart categories in the pathway position.
(homepage path:  index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)

When the user selects one of the categories listed in the pathway position, I would like the jpg image to no longer show. (after selecting category, URL path is: index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=18&Itemid=1)
How can I do this?

Also, when user selects a VM category via a top menu tab, they get category heading plus product listing.  This is what's wanted.  (category page path: index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=67)  But, when they select one of the products, they again get the image posted in position user1, plus the product details.  (product detail page path: index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=27&category_id=18&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)
How can I remove the image from user1 on the product details page?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello,

If you don't want the image module to show on other pages besides the homepage just make sure you only assign it to the home menu item in the image module admin area.

As for assigning an image or module just to the product detail page, this is not possible.  With Joomla you can only assign to the entire component not individual pages inside the component.

Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately, I'm still a bit confused as to why my site is operating the way it is.

This is the behavior I want:
A) on home page,
     - image (from user1) is show
     - two virtuemart categories are show
B) when user selects one of the VM categories (from either menu or from VM category image)
     - image (from user1) is NOT shown
     - category image IS shown
     - product images are shown
C) when user selects a product
     - image (from user1) is NOT shown
     - category image is NOT shown
     - product details are shown

This is what I currently experience:
A) as described above, looks fine
B) different behavior based upon which selection user makes
      1) if user selects a VM category from the main menu
            - as described above, looks fine
      2) if user selects a VM category by selecting category image from home page content
           - image (from user1) IS shown  {this is what I don't want}
           - category image is shown
           - product images are shown
C) on product page,
     - image (from user1) IS shown {this is what I don't want}
     - category image is not shown
     - product details are shown

On the page that looks like what I want (scenario B-1 above) the URL is:
index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=67

On the pages that contain the image (from user1) where I don't want them, the URL is:
(for categories page): index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=18&Itemid=1
(for product details page): index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=27&category_id=18&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1

I'm still baffled why image (from user1) seems to appear some places, but not others.

I'll be sending a PM for you to access site and examine further.  Thanks.

The reason its not appearing on the bibs and blankets menu item is because they are menu items and you didn't assign the image to them.  Since it is assigned to the VM component ( as this is the homepage link) it will show on all other pages within this component.

What I suggest doing is making your homepage go to some static content that you just make look like what you currently have, this is really the only way to do this.
