Some great ideas on this topic.  Food for thought!  I'd be weary that others don't start utilising them Shape5!

My idea is for a cartoony template.  I see so many cool cartoony type templates which I'm sure have a really low load time (vectory).

I'd also like to see you take advantage of CSS3 more such as http://speckyboy.com/2010/02/15/20-css3-tutorials-and-techiques-for-creating-buttons/  This way you can reduce the use of images in a few places (such as the menu).

Is it possible to have a template which integrates a backlink linker to point Google in the direction of sites with backlinks to your site and therefore ensure indexing?

Would love to see some more feminine templates. I am thinking salons, retail shopping, something with more of a girly touch, while still being classy.
yeah definitely, something like fashion, perfume or beauty products, that sort of thing

Would love a SiteShaper based on community builder type extension. Have looked at hundreds (seems like thousands) of templates for the community site I'm working on. Just can't find anything to compare to shape5 creations. -thanks!

This is an extension suggestion.  I would like to see a mega menu extension similar to JoomlaArt or IceMegaMenu.  Thank you.

Thanks Luke!  We are very close to finishing this up, hopefully it will be released soon on an upcoming template!

Shape 5 Featured Template - June 2011 - Polyglot!

Joomla! 1.6 makes multilingual support native.   Bur, for now it is not an intuitive system, and existing Shape 5 templates are reacting to rather than integrating this new system.  It would be good for us and for you guys to spend some time looking at the issues that are presented by this new integration in Joomla! 1.6.  Have a look for example at this post regarding implementing of a multilingual site using Sea of Glass:  http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?uid=568708&f=617&t=586841&start=0&sid=44a8d22fd38d12a27ad7a79d2e59b648  There are a lot of posts like mine.  The native integration is not intuitive, and it would be great if there were a site shaper to allow people that have a need an off the shelf solution and don?t have time to experiment.  And, according to the Translation team:

 You messed up your template headers or the original template has wrong code in its index.php
twice <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" with one containing wrong value.

wrong
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
should be:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="<?php echo $this->language; ?>" lang="<?php echo $this->language; ?>" dir="<?php echo $this->direction; ?>" >

I suggest you look at the way the index.php is made in beez20"

I have found another incompatibility issue regarding the registration module, in my case the horizontal module used with Sea of Glass.
The way to deliver multilingual content is to create multiple instances of the template, and modules.  I can for example localize the reservation module to each language and assign it to a language according to some rather strict and unforgivable rules.  On the other hand, I tried to create multiple instances of the registration module and localize them for three languages.  When I publish multiple registration modules on the site, I get a 310 loop error.  Presumably because I have three dancing cookies each trying to overwrite the other.  I have no problem hard coding a registration module for each language, but as of now I have no way to offer a multi-lingual registation.  For today, I have left the registration module published only in Portuguese on the site to demonstrate what can be done to localize for 1 language without hard coding the module.  Joomfish doesn?t yet support 1.6, and their product is going to be quite different from the native support.  You guys have done a great job of addressing mobile phone compatibility.  Multilingual support should be a standard feature of any 1.6 compliant template, so I suggest that no time would be better than the present to address the issue of multilingual support in 1.6 by releasing revised registration module and featured template. My friend and I started an internet radio station called Freedomizer Radio via Blog Talk Radio about a year and half ago.  It would be great if we had a template for a radio station that would highlight Guests, Shows, Hosts, Interviews, Podcasts, News, Multiple banner placements for advertisers, forms to upload guest info and news articles, to name a few.  I have plenty more ideas trust me. I purchased a membership about 6 months ago to upgrade the current site but its difficult to find a template that would work best. The current site is www.freedomizerradio.com if you would like to take a look.  Let me know what you think of the idea and please contact me if you would like to work together to create something.

Thanks,

Sean

A new (compact) gaming template would be nice with new modules. Smiley

I would love to see a nice fitness/personal training template.
this industry is huge and I bet you there will be lots of people joining if you would come up with something nice!!

Be great if you can incorporate some sort of blog style and of course room for testimonials.

I have been looking all around for a joomla template that would be suited for a sports organization. My daughter is a volleyball player.
The town and area we live in has many great volleyball teams -school teams/ club teams/ college team /university team/ beach volleyball /etc.Currently they all seem to work in isolation and none have a good way to collaborate and share information.
I have taken it upon myself to register a name/ get a host and use a shape5 template.
The template i would suggest is an information type site. Main page would have calendar, news blog, latest scores /pictures etc.
Each team would have there own page with specific news / info about them. this page would be updated by the coach.
there would be other information pages for facilities, equipment suppliers, training camps, etc.
I am going to attempt to use the new vertex template (while teaching myself joomla at the same time!!!) but it would have been nice to find an organization template that would have all the latest features and meet the needs of groups.

for your consideration

How about a Spa Club template?  The spa club I work with uses the software at salonspaware.com.   If you could do a template that can book reservations, email notifications, client login for personal stuff, appointment setting, etc. That would be awesome!

Hmn, a nice brand new template for a shop would be great.
With VM all polished, with product details tabs, a nice cart design etc...
I think people will like it

I think Christmas templates are pointless.  It would be more worthwhile to develop a template and then develop a Christmas version of the template.  Then you can set the date that the Template is in force if you use Joomla 1.6
