S5 Live Search

This tutorial will explain how to install and configure the S5 Live Search module.

Let your site's viewers easily search for material without leaving the current page, refreshing pages or waiting on load speeds. This module uses the exact same class names as the default Joomla search module and will work in place of any Joomla site using the default Joomla search module. This means if you have a site already using the default module you can simply swap out your current module with the more advanced Shape 5 Live Search module and it will look and feel exactly the same way without having to change any css to get it to match your current template.

Note - Many of our club products contain specific styling for our extensions. These styles cannot be transferred from one product to another; they are integrated into the design. The same extension is used on all installations, the themes themselves contain the styling overrides. If a particular theme does not include unique styling for a particular extension, then the default style is used.

Be sure to read the tooltips and other descriptions in the backend of this extension. There are a lot of tips and further information found in these areas.

1. Installation

The first thing you'll need to do is install the module. Once you have it downloaded it just follow the below tutorial if you need help installing the module into Joomla. Refer to your template's module layout to determine the best position to publish this module to, this module is typically published to the "search" position on Shape5 templates.

2. Verify the s5_live_search.php file

If you are using a template that already demos the S5 Live Search module you can skip this step as the file is already included in your template. If you are using this on a template that does not showcase this module or you are using a third party template you will need to extract the file s5_live_search.php from the module's zip file that you downloaded. Upload this file to:

templates/{your template}/html/com_search/search/

If that folder does not exist create it using an FTP Manager or your host's file manager application. This file is necessary to create an override to the default search component.

3. Next you will need to setup the options in the admin

Below is a complete list of all the settings. Be sure to reach the description and tooltip for each setting. Most of these configuration options have to do with the placement of certain items, their styling and other adjustments having to do with the visual layout and design of the module.
