How To Change The Footer Text

This tutorial will guide you through how to change the footer text on a Shape5 template. No mention of is required in the footer area, and can be changed or modified as needed.

Setting up your own footer text can be done by modifying footer.php or by publishing your own module to the "footer" position.

OPTION 1 - FOOTER.PHP - This is the simplest method and requires you to modify a single php file and over-write your existing file via ftp.

  1. With your favorite FTP program, or you host's file manager modify the file at: "templates/{your template}/vertex/footer.php"
  2. Edit the file with your favorite text editor.
  3. Locate line 6 which reads:
    Designed by <a href="" title="Visit Joomla Template Club" target="blank" class="footerc">Joomla Templates</a>
  4. Once you have located line 6, modify the code as desired. Typically you would remove all the text at this line and enter your own plain text.
  5. Save the file and upload it to your server. Make sure to over-write the existing file.

OPTION 2 - MODULE - you can publish any module to the "footer" module position. By doing this, the footer.php file for option #1 is no longer used and a module is called in its place.

  1. To learn how to install a module and publish it please visit the following url:
  2. The module can be any kind, but usually a custom HTML module is used.
  3. Publish the module to the footer position, and make sure it is published to all pages under the Menu Assignments tab.
