1. Openness Made All of This Possible

   Every AI system in the headlines today, whether proprietary or Open Source, exists because researchers shared their work openly. That openly shared research produced Open Source software: the frameworks used to train these models, the libraries used to evaluate them, the operating systems, orchestration layers, and inference engines used to run them.

   The OSI is pleased to announce the launch of the Open Source AI Fellowship at UN Open Source Week.

4. Engaging on Age Attestation Policy in Brazil

   OSI recently submitted comments to Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) regarding its draft guidance on technology providers under the ECA Digital framework, a law to protect children and teenagers in digital environments.

5. The OSI 2025 Annual Report Is Now Available

   The Open Source Initiative's 2025 Annual Report documents a year in which Open Source found itself at the center of major debates around AI, cybersecurity, sustainability, and public policy.
